Sony announces Xperia Sola, with screen "floating ring"

Sony announced a new phone Xperia line that may not have the best name to be sold in countries that speak Portuguese, but offers an interesting feature that can make it stand out from other Android market. Called Xperia Sola, the handset comes with something called "floating ring" in free translation. It allows the user to surf the web without touching the screen.

While it is a different functionality, I do not see much use if it is not implemented in other aspects of mobile navigation. And I'm very curious about how it works behind the scenes.

Despite its advantage, the outsole specifications partially comes out of phase compared to the rest of the market. 1 GHz dual-core, 8 GB of internal storage, 3.7 inch screen with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel camera that supports video capture in 720p and ntil 1320 mAh battery. There is no estimated price or release date yet, but Sony at least ensures that the Android 2.3 that comes with it will be updated to Android 4.0.
