Security Essentials Update removes Chrome by accident

It seems that Microsoft already has its arms to resist the inevitable advance of participation in the Chrome browser market. But instead of focusing on upgrading your own Internet Explorer, implementing more advanced support for HTML5 and other web technologies used, the Redmond giant decided it would be better to take an alternate route: Delete the comptuadores Chrome with a little help Microsoft Security Essentials, your anti-virus software.


According to ZDnet reports the site, many users have had their Chrome facilities were corrupted and unable to reinstall the browser after you have updated anti-virus settings 1.113.656.0 number that identifies it as a variation of the virus PWS: Win32/Zbot .

Ok, we do not think even the creator of an Internet Explorer update released intentionally corrupt to the Security Essentials for the sole purpose of filing the competition. But it is quite convenient that the Google browser was the only one affected by this false positive. Fortunately, Microsoft has admitted the mistake and apologized.

In a statement to ZDNet a company spokesman said about 3,000 users of security software were affected and new definitions, this time with the number 1.113.672.0 have already been released to fix the problem. The affected users, however, must manually update.
