Electronic Arts today announced that FIFA 13 broke several sales records in its first five days, selling 4.5 million copies around the world. According to the company, Fifa 13 already has the highest sales in 2012 and is the largest launch of a sports game of all time.
Launched in the United States and several other regions on September 25, the game was the most sold in 40 countries. The UK led these numbers, selling 1.23 million in the first 48 hours, putting Fifa 13 as the second title released this market to reach one million units on its first day.
In addition to sales, records were also broken in multiplayer. The online gaming service had its busiest day on 30 September, when it reached 800,000 peak users, something never before seen in the franchise. The total numbers now total more than 66 million games, with 600 million minutes of play.
