The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, announced on his profile on this Thursday morning Facebook had more than 1 billion monthly active users. We all knew it would happen sooner or later since the amazing growth of Facebook is not never seemed to diminish. But I did not expect it to happen this year.
He Said,
This morning more than a billion people actively using Facebook every month.
If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my small team honored to serve you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing and by far the thing I'm most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make the best Facebook to make Facebook better for you and hope that together one day be able to connect the rest of the world too.
On the official Facebook page at ... Facebook, a video celebrating with the title "The Things That Connect Us" was published shortly after the announcement of Zuckerberg.
It is safe to say that Facebook is the first social network that reaches that milestone in the world. The next will probably be Twitter, but as the company does not release numbers frequent question, there is no way to know if they are close to it or not.
In April this year a document sent to the SEC revealed that Facebook had 900 million registered users, but not all of them are logam monthly - at the time, that number was "mere" 526 million. The estimate was that the milestone of 1 billion active users happen in August.
