During Futurecom 2012, several companies showed their innovations for the telecom market. Wandering in Qualcomm's booth, where they showed the Snapdragon processor, came across a figurine highly requested Phone Samsung Ativ S. Yes, the one with Windows Phone 8 and which was presented at IFA 2012.
This is an apparatus large, but at the same time thin. Well fine. The grip is phenomenal, and the rear plastic does not leave the impression of being a phone that will break in your hand, that is what I felt the Omnia W. The device in question was with a velcro on the back for being a smartphone exposure within the Qualcomm booth. The screen is big and clear: 4.8 inch Super AMOLED, the blacks are very black, and I believe we can face the Ativ S as the first foblet with Windows Phone.
Support for NFC is one of the main features of the device. Through Wallet, you can make payments on debit and credit just by bringing the phone. Furthermore, support for microSD cards of Windows Phone 8 is passed through the unit. The unit I tested had no card inserted, but the system details that you can expand the internal memory with additional 32 GB of space.
Regarding the system, I must say that remains fluid and limpid as Windows Phone 7.5. However, I must commend Internet Explorer, which proved to be very quick to render pages. Additionally, the unit features a parental control, called "Kid's Corner" and a search engine for shopping, the "Local Scout". However, when I clicked to understand how it works, the application has unexpectedly quit and returned to the main screen. It was also possible to take a screenshot without any complication: just press the Windows key + Power that it is saved in the gallery of pictures from the system.
The unit I tested has support LTE. It is not known if the device has the 4G frequencies used in Brazil, in the same way that I could not perform a search to try to find networks of networks under test Claro, and Vivo Hi here at Futurecom, since the unit was without SIM Card. No predictions commercial launch in Brazil and abroad, but Windows Phone 8 will be officially unveiled by Microsoft on 29th October.
