Fedora Linux 1.5 with GNOME 3: Available for download

After a long time,  finally is available the newest version of Fedora Linux (free cousin of Red Hat Linux) now at version 15, and among the several new features, the inclusion of GNOME 3 as the default desktop.

Codenamed "Lovelock", Fedora 15 did what until now no distro did with perfection: 3 make GNOME graphical environment default system. And if you think the Unity of Ubuntu complicated, it is good to prepare: GNOME 3 presents even more radical changes in user experience, and can take a while until you get used to.

In addition, Fedora 15 brings other news: the LibreOffice is the new standard productivity package system, and if you do not like GNOME 3, you can use KDE or XFCE 4.6 or 4.8. Several other programs are in their most current versions, such as Mozilla Firefox, version 4.

With Fedora 15, the development team used a new daemon for managing system services, the systemd. With systemd, Fedora 15 can take better advantage of multiprocessor systems via parallel processes, reducing time to start and stop the machine.

Fedora 15 can be downloaded from the project site, and you can choose several versions, such as a live CD, a DVD ISO and above is preferred architecture 32 and 64-bit. You can also read the installation guide and release notes, but these last two documents are in English only.
