Twitter officially confirms purchase of TweetDeck

One post on the official Twitter blog today confirmed what sources of CNN said earlier this week: the company that created the API was bought by Twitter. A blog post on the API also confirmed the deal, but none of the companies cite the amounts involved, although it is estimated between 40 and 60 million dollars.

Even with the purchase, Twitter continues to encourage other developers, asking them to continue to create and improve their applications for the platform. Matt Harris, the popular Twitter Developer Advocate, published notice in the mailing list of developers to customers saying that with the acquisition, "we expect to see further growth opportunities with our audience. "

Iain Dodsworth, TweetDeck founder, says that "changes will happen, " but does not mention what the future holds for the company. Only ensures that the team responsible for API will continue in London and now they have the resources to grow and take on greater challenges. "
