Apple may introduce new MacBook Air during this first semester

If you plan to buy a MacBook Air in the coming weeks, it might be better to wait a little longer. According to DigiTimes, Apple may release a hardware upgrade for your ultra-portable in a few months. If the rumor is correct, the new models of MacBook Air with faster processor and Thunderbolt must land between the months of June or July.

The rumor started after Apple's various suppliers in Taiwan to initiate production and shipping of parts for assembly of the new MacBook Air 11.6 and 13.3 inches. With the upgrade, the computer ultrathin Apple will leave the factory with Intel's Sandy Bridge and line interface Thunderbolt, Intel technology and is already present in other apple products like the new iMacs, MacBook Pro and 2 iPad.

As a transfer rate of up to 10 Gbps - 4.8 Gbps against USB 3.0 - Thunderbolt (formerly known as Light Peak) is a new standard developed by Intel with ambition to become a universal connector and replace the doors as SCSI, SATA, FireWire, PCI Express and even the famous USB.

Asked about a possible hardware upgrade of the MacBook Air, Apple's press office did not confirm the rumors - and not denied, as it always does. So if you're still in doubt about which model to choose the MacBook, it may be worth waiting a few more weeks before buying.
