Apple reveals details of Mountain Lion, the next Mac OS

The ninth version of Apple's operating system. The apple company today announced the availability of the first developer preview for the Mountain Lion, the name of the successor to the Lion system you know and possibly use on your Mac (I do not use very specific reasons).

Novelty will, once again, a number of features imported from iOS in particular applications - notes, reminders and notifications center. Apple says that the Mountain Lion is the first version of Mac fully designed in view of the iCloud service, data storage in the cloud that works with the company's mobile devices.

Messages in Mountain Lion
IChat will be replaced by the Messages application. He is already in operation with iOS similar to WhatsApp in an attempt to avoid sending SMS. In addition to talking with people who have accounts on your Apple ID IOS devices, the application will work with Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, Jabber and AIM. Users will be able to send not only text but also "high-quality pictures and videos," according to company statement.

Apple put the beta Messages for download. Works only with the Lion. We tried to download the app here in the newsroom, but I was giving a nasty error message.

At least two warning centers are present at the Mountain Lion. Notification Center, which copies the functionality of the popular Growl supplement gives relevant information about the applications installed on your Mac and Game Center, whose name shows what it is, it works more or less as the central points of the Xbox: shows the friends, what games have given them work, so that achievements have been made. Very similar to what exists in the iPhone.

Notification Center
The applications IOS system are present in the future notes and reminders. It is natural for them to synchronize their data with the user iCloud. All the better if you have iPhone or iPod Touch or iPhone because the added information on the mobile device will be replicated on the computer (and vice versa). Apple also adds full support for Twitter in Mountain Lion. The official app will work with the integrated system (in iPhoto, Photo Boot and Safari).

To complete, Apple offers the Mountain Lion various options for sharing content "in various applications." Outside links in Safari that can quickly go to the reading list, favorites or Twitter, and send to someone by email or via Messages, the company adds to post photos to Flickr and videos to Vimeo. They gave no details on what apps will work with what services. I imagine that the picture should work with iPhoto and iMovie video (some shares already existed before).

AirPlay is present in the system. Just as in iOS devices, the user can repeat the image of the computer screen on TV compatible with the technology (or is coupled to an accessory Apple TV).

Gatekeeper Settings
The safety of the owners of Mac application is guarded by Gatekeeper, a new feature introduced with the next OS X. With it is the responsibility of the user choose whether to install applications freely from any source for download, only from the Mac App Store (the standard system, according to Apple), and only from the Mac App Store and developers whose identification had been confirmed before.

Accounts by Apple are more than 100 new features in the Mountain Lion. Usually they include changes to a button in these calculations (known as Apple ...). They also say there are several new APIs for developers to take full advantage of the unique features of the Mountain Lion.

For those who thought the Mac OS could not suck more resources iOS there is evidence to the contrary. Not that this is good or bad, I'm not judging Apple's decision, but only reporting.

No date for release of the operating system (we will know during the summer in the Northern Hemisphere - from mid-July to mid September) was not disclosed the price to be charged for it. Developers enrolled in the program can download the Apple preview of Mountain Lion immediately.
