Google Play wins option to uninstall and update applications remotely

Owners of Android smartphones and tablets can now manage their applications more easily. After the big announcements made at the Google I / O developer conference in San Francisco that occurs in the United States, Google quietly updated the page of installed applications Play Store and added two new buttons: uninstall and update application.

Starting today, users can access the new page My Android applications and click the trash icon for Google to send a command to your smartphone or tablet and make the device to remove the unwanted application. You can also update an application remotely, but only one at a time. A button "Update All", in this application Google Play, would be very welcome.

The new buttons make it more practical to manage applications on Android. With a few clicks and a few seconds you can uninstall dozens of games that you no longer use and are only serving to take up space. Unfortunately, pre-installed applications on the device, the Defy crapwares as the Mini, can not be removed.

Smartphones start receiving Windows Phone Tango

Microsoft started the global distribution of the update for Windows Phone Commercial Refresh 3, also known as Tango. Version 7.10.8773.98 brings import SIM card contacts, attachments to text messages and various other improvements. The update is now available for users in many countries, including Brazil, and owners of equipment Lumia also receive new features developed by Nokia.

As you upgrade to Mango, all smartphones with Windows Phone should receive the update soon, even the first generation, launched in 2010. The Australian operator Telstra said it is testing the new version on the Nokia 800 Lumia, HTC Mozart, HTC HD7, Samsung Omnia W, LG Quantum and LG Optimus 7Q. Vodafone says it is homologous Tango in the Nokia 800 and HTC Trophy Lumia, some users reported to be receiving the carrier update for the HTC Titan (aka Ultimate in Brazil).

In Brazil, Nokia says that the 710 sold Lumia by Lumia course and bought 800 stores from Vivo and TIM already have updates available. The Lumias unlocked are still being tested by the Finnish manufacturer. For those who bought a 710 Lumia in Vivo or TIM, bad news: the status is "no update available", which means that they will not receive the news. This is because the operators have the right to "jump" a version of Windows Phone. Anyway, as the platform updates are cumulative, the next will contain news from the Tango.

Tango does not yet include the new home screen, which will come only on Windows Phone 7.8, but owners of Nokia devices will win beautiful news. The share of the 3G connection over Wi-Fi was finally released, smartphones and new applications will receive Finnish included a feature called Flip to silence that silences the ringing of incoming call by simply turning the phone's screen down. Useful if you're in a classroom and forgot to put the device in silent mode.

According to Nokia, the news worth to Lumia 710 and 800 and will be released during the months of June and July. Lumia Nokia 610 and 900 now have the new features, which include capturing panoramic photos, contact sharing, DLNA transfer of media over a counter and Internet traffic, which helps the user with restricted data package to avoid slowdowns additional charges or service provider.

To upgrade so it is available, simply connect your smartphone to Zune and follow the onscreen instructions. A user forum Canadian XDA Developers released the download links of the *. Cab version 7.10.8773.98 for apressadinhos, but not Tecnoblog recommends upgrading in this way, since there is a risk of turning your Windows Phone into a brick or prevent the device is properly updated by Zune in the future.

In writing we we found that the Tango is not yet available in the Nokia 800 in Vivo Lumia and Samsung Omnia W unbranded. And you already received the update?

Chrome For IOS - First Impressions

Arrives in App Store, after much waiting, the first version of Chrome for iPhone, iPhone and iPod Touch. The application is freely available to anyone with IOS version 4.3 or higher. Here in the newsroom did some initial tests with the browser on the iPhone to tell you how  it is the likely replacement of Safari for many of us.

Chrome for iPhone
The interface of Chrome for iOS remember at all what we've come to the computer (with minor differences depending on the OS of our choice). The traditional superintelligent that combines address bar, history and search remains flawless also in Apple's mobile platform. Chrome is based on iOS tabbed browsing - they are at the top of the application, with the possibility of moving them or closed with one touch of a finger. Pretty simple and practical, as it should be.

Login with Google Account
Early on, when first running app, Chrome opens a login screen to what you already suspected what was in the browser for iPhone / iPhone: synchronize user data with what was stored in the Chrome browser for PCs This is Smart and log into their accounts automatically. Google in particular, that allow open and get to your Gmail inbox, without having to put username and password. Details: with Gmail loaded in particular look for mobile devices.

Favorite computer
Press the button to create new tab leads to a screen with several options: the most visited sites, bookmarks and other devices. The first option is obvious and needs no comments. "Bookmarks" (my iPhone is in English), in turn, opens the favorites saved face on the mobile device. Click on "Bookmarks" again to access the sites you've stored on your computer at home or work. There are all favorites that usually appear in the bookmarks bar of Chrome for desktop / notebook. One touch and come to the page in question.

I have no doubt that the cloud Google works at full throttle to keep the user information (linked to the Google account) properly synchronized, no matter the device. That alone is sufficient for me to replace the Safari browser by Google without much thought. After all, the engine for viewing pages is the same, although the Safari Mobile has some advantages which makes it faster than others.

Tabs open elsewhere with Chrome running
I almost forget to talk about the third option for a new tab, also a very interesting feature: "other devices" lists which tabs are open in Chrome that may be running on other machines using your login. Here I found that I left the same tabs open on my personal MacBook at home are available, as well as the tabs in Chrome running on the computer work. The iOS app shows the computer name and the sites. If you close your browser, this option automatically disappears on the screen of "other devices".

Resources
Caught my attention the microphone icon in the address bar. Press it does carry a balloon that asks the user to speak. What he says to the device turns into a Google search automatically. Around here, even with the English iOS enabled, the browser took me to research in Portuguese. The terms "meeting with Fatima" and "how to unlock nokia" were easily understood. Words more complicated, as the name of this humble scribe, can not be recognized by the intelligent Google. He is intelligent, but not enough to be infallible.

Search for "how to unlock nokia" voice
The toolbar has some interesting features. Many young readers should take the windows Tecnoblog "unknowns" in iPhone content to visit, say, not suitable for their age without the app save the record. Changing from traditional navigation with login for navigation "unknown" depends on a tap on the icon that sits in the upper right corner of the browser. Close the last tab "unknown" to end the session.

Incognito window
Important to say that Chrome does not block sites that save their tracking information in the local storage device due to a technical charge. This alert appears on the first tab with the way "incognito" enabled.

Performance
For here was a performance containing. YouTube videos into other sites are reproduced without problems, like in Safari itself.

Particularly, do not like the idea of installing an operating system over another, since there is a chance to applications and documents inteferirem stability of Windows. However, if you do not have time to backup your files or change the layout of partitions on your HD, the update might be a good idea.

Instagram Changes web interface to accept comments and likes

The Instagram started as a service and hipster to apply filters on images, then share them on social networks, but over the years has been raising millions of users and grew enough to be bought by Facebook. Perhaps influenced by its new parent company, this week its version of the web service has received a deserved revamped both in design and functionality.

The news released this Thursday (28) is that those who open a photo Instagram web (with this test if you like) can comment on the image or like it. The caption of the photo now appears on it, with the location (if the user has selected).

This was only possible through the applications for Android and iOS and third-party sites, that implement the API service to enable these features. Now you just need users to log into the web for Instagram that interaction is possible with photos.

Improving the web interface still does not allow something that most users insist: a means to access all your photos in one place, a gallery. For while users continue to see their full collection of images by means only of mobile applications.

Review: Motorola Defy Mini dual-chip

Defy The Mini arrived in the country in April with the promise of being a smartphone. Also available in dual-chip version, the device is a more basic version of the famous Motorola Defy. For sorrow of the nation, we do not play the new smartphone in a pool, but we did a detailed analysis with the pros and cons of the device.

The Android dual-chip input Motorola has single-core processor of 600 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 3.2-inch screen and a camera that takes pictures of 3.15 megapixels. Is it a good option for people who use two carriers and want to escape the equipment xing-ling? Check out the following paragraphs.

Design
Defy The Mini was not designed thinking of beauty, but in strength. The protections of the connectors USB headset and do not let the look of nice smartphone, but prevent entry of liquid when a friend push you into a pool. The rear matte also may not please many people, but the sensation of not scratch as easily as the devices with a glossy finish.

Resistant design.
The front of the Defy Mini has, besides the 3.2 inch screen, four capacitive buttons: menu, screen, and search again. During the period that the unit tested, the buttons were very responsive. The front also has a small notification LED that flashes blue when the user receives a new email or text message.

The rear of the unit from Motorola comes with a lid and simple, without textures. The bottom is a button where you can lock the lid to completely seal the smartphone. To remove the back cover and gain access to the battery and the SIM slot and microSD card, you must unlock the cover and pull gently to release each travinha.

After removing the back cover and battery of 1,650 mAh, the user has access to three slots: one for the microSD memory card and two chips. One of the slots only works on 2G SIM, then you should insert the SIM card with data plan with 3G WCDMA slot indicated to achieve an optimum speed (or nearly so) on the Internet navigation.

Screen and interface
Like most smartphones input, the Defy Mini has a small screen, only 3.2 inches. People with small hands can comfortably use the device, without resorting to reach the corners of the screen. The picture quality, unfortunately, is not the best: they are only 256 thousand colors and a resolution of 320 × 480, resulting in a density of 180 pixels per inch.

A more advanced user, familiar with LED screens and high definition AMOLED certainly notice that the screen Defy Mini has low vividness of color, low-definition picture and dim, but the display is consistent with the pattern of smartphones basicões.

I do not know how Motorola can think of so many widgets to pollute the Android interface. The main screen has, in addition to two rows of icons, a Google search box, a weather widget and a bar featured videos from YouTube. Scrolling the screen sideways, the user finds application widgets more accessible and more people contacted. By default, there are seven screens. Thankfully, the Android is customizable.

Phone application shows two buttons to make calls, one for each chip.
Send SMS or call someone is very simple in the dual-chip from Motorola. Just open the messaging application or phone, at the bottom of the screen, two submit buttons appear. The first is connected to 3G, will be identified as W, otherwise as G1. The second chip is shown as G2.

The Defy Mini dual-chip also suffers the problems of an Android Input: after a few hours of use, running popular applications like Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, Twitter and Gmail will start to choke and display messages to "force closing". In the most critical moments, using the smartphone has become so annoying that it was necessary to restart it. At least Motorola has included the direct command to restart the shutdown options.

Multimedia
The player's audio Defy Mini is quite competent. With an available connection, the Music player + automatically finds the lyrics and displays in real time. The application also features integration with SoundHound for music recognition, Shoutcast, to online radio, and YouTube to find clips of songs.

With a screen of only 3.2 inches, you can not expect a killer video player. Defy The Mini was able to play a DivX movie in 480p without problems, but that's it. No captions, videos at 720p or something more advanced, because the same 600 MHz processor makes it difficult to work. Using the MX Player, a video viewing *. Mkv 720p was "possible", but with cutting frames and delays in the audio.

Cameras
The 3.15 megapixel camera is enough to take pictures casually, in environments with plenty of natural light. In dark places, the algorithm of the camera and trying to disguise the noise of the image, but still quite noticeable imperfections. The front camera has VGA resolution and can be used to make video calls - self-portraits, however, are left with a very bad quality.

Defy The Mini also records video, but do not rely on this functionality, image quality is terrible, even with the camera set to capture the highest quality. Picture noise, muffled sound and lack of clarity are some of the problems you find on the unit. Oddly, Defy Mini was only able to shoot the resolution of 352 × 288, a resolution worse than many low cost devices.

Games and embedded applications
Motorola decided to include a bunch of preinstalled applications on Android, many of them of dubious utility. In addition to the standard package of Android, we have: BlogCenter, Compass, CardioTrainer, Voice Commands, Sound Recorder, Flashlight, MediaSee, MediaSer, Midnight Bowling 2, Control Panel, Quickoffice Lite and Tetris. The games are great, but they work only for 60 minutes after the end of the period you must purchase a license.

Applications to spare.
The Defy Mini hardware is not the best and, together with the various widgets around the screen and Android games trial impossible to uninstall, Motorola complicates the life of the smartphone user with a slow and with little internal space available.

Battery
With no powerful hardware, the Defy Mini gets along with its 1650 mAh battery, but not impressive. The test was not as accurate because, for some unknown reason, the dual-chip Motorola only displays battery levels of 5% in 5%.

With moderate use, which included 30 minutes of 3G browsing, 15 minutes of streaming video over Wi-Fi on YouTube, Fruit Ninja 30 minutes and 15 minutes of 480p DivX video, the battery reached 65%. The 3G connection was activated during the entire test and brightness remained on autopilot.

Using the smartphone in a more intense, with 30 minutes of browsing over Wi-Fi, 30 minutes of social networks via 3G, 30 minutes of streaming video over Wi-Fi on YouTube, Fruit Ninja 30 minutes and 30 minutes DivX video 480p, the battery has reached 35%. 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth remained activated during the test, with maximum brightness.

With the original charger which supplies a current of 850 mA, the battery Defy Mini dual chip is from zero to 100% by little over 2 hours.

Downsides
Excessive delays after a few hours of use;
Operating system full of dubious utility applications;
Camera with poor image quality;
Processor slow relative to competitors with the same price range.
Strengths
Resistance to scratches, dust and water;
Supports two SIM cards;
Battery with good battery life.

Conclusion
The Defy Mini dual-chip is a good option for clumsy users who feel the need to use two chips simultaneously. The device proves to be tough, sending messages is very practical, the battery lasts a lot and you can enjoy the thousands of applications available on the Play Store.

Motorola released the news in Brazil for a suggested price of $ 699. The value is not at all accessible, especially for those accustomed to buying mobile dual-chip quad-chip or even on the gray market, but the Defy Mini dual-chip certainly has a far superior build quality and is not disposable.

However, you should also take into account the various limitations mentioned in the analysis and understand that the devices' low-cost "Android still have serious performance problems and stability. If you do not have a money tree and does not need much of a dual-chip device, it is worth waiting for the price of the Mini Defy download or save money to buy a better unit.

Injunction prohibits selling Samsung Galaxy Tab in the United States

The legal battle between Apple and Samsung in the United States won a new episode on Tuesday night (26). A judge granted an injunction in favor of Apple immediately banning the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets throughout the American nation. As usual in this type of decision, the Korean giant can (and will) use to continue selling the product.

"While Samsung has the right to compete, can not do so unfairly by flooding the market with offenders [Apple's intellectual property]," the magistrate wrote in the decision. Apple showed particularly strong arguments about the design of Galaxy Tab Judge believes that this product in the original model with 10.1 "screen infringe patents of rival.

Samsung also is prohibited from importing the Galaxy Tab 10.1 "or other products that infringe the same patent that led Apple to court.

The original Galaxy Tab was released in the U.S. market in October 2010, according to GSM Arena site. Today Samsung has renewed a line of tablet called Galaxy Tab 2, which was not affected by the injunction. South Korea can proceed with the sales. The Galaxy Tab 2 "second generation" Ice Cream Sandwich and is on sale in Brazil since mid-June.

There is no doubt that Samsung would appeal the decision. Still, it was an important victory for Apple in trubunais.

LG interrupts the development of new tablets

LG took a radical decision with respect to one of its business. The manufacturer reports that will stop development of new tablets, even if only temporarily. The company says that the focus now is on the production of smartphones, a category of products more profitable.

The announcement was made by company spokesman Ken Hong, to Bloomberg: "We decided to suspend all development of tablets for a while and focus on the line of smartphones." This is not the first notice of abandonment of technology by LG. Now in May, the manufacturer announced that it has no plans to continue production of smartphones with Windows Phone for a long time.

LG's tablets are not something easy to see. The Korean only has Optimus Pad, which has even been released in Brazil. To an extent this size, it is concluded that the manufacturer did not get on the tablet market. This is remarkable with the investment in large-screen smartphones: the launch of its 5 inch screen with Full HD resolution was one of the indications that LG would focus its efforts on smartphones.

I'm not sure whether this decision will benefit or worsen the situation of the company. It would be nice if LG actually concentrate their efforts on smartphones and actually improve their devices. I just hope that the production of tablets to be placed in a refrigerator from LG - combine well.

Google finds 9,500 new malicious websites per day

The number of sites that distribute malware is increasing rapidly. Google's robots crawl pages and responsible for maintaining the search index updated 9500 discover new malicious websites per day. The announcement was made in online security blog Google celebrating five years of the campaign Safe Browsing, which aims to protect users from dangerous Web sites.

A member of the Google Security Team, Niels Provos, stresses that the technology that identifies dangerous sites is present not only in the search engine results, but also in popular browsers, like Chrome, Firefox and Safari, protecting about 600 million users worldwide. The Google browser also has a security alert for downloads, which is displayed 300,000 times a day for unsuspecting users.

With the help of robots, the company found 9,500 new malicious websites. Remember, however, that this number includes both sites that are specifically designed to attack users and Web sites that had invaded systems and codes changed to spread malware. The number of pages affected is so great that, of all searches done on Google every day, about 12 to 14 million results show the classic warning "This site may be compromised."

Google says it is working to keep the web safe and put your hands on to reduce the spread of malicious code. Administrators of websites registered in Webmaster Tools, for example, receive notifications when Google robot found something wrong. In addition, thousands of Google send alerts to providers per day and treatment facilities of incidents such as CERT.br.

The company also makes clear that the platform of the Safe Browsing is fully open for other companies to keep their users safe and provides a complete documentation about the details of the operation of the API. Currently, Google works hard to keep safe Chrome extensions and applications for Android.

The statement released by Google clearly shows that the Brazilians are among the biggest victims of phishing. Worse, many malicious sites are also hosted on servers in Brazil. For novice users, it's basic recommendation so widespread in the mainstream media ever suspicious of links, even supposedly sent by friends. Owners of sites, it is important to keep your systems updated with the latest patches.

StatCounter refutes criticism on the fall of Microsoft IE

You probably remember when, in March this year the first time Chrome topped the market share for a day. Some weeks later the Chrome kicked once the competitor from Microsoft, all according to StatCounter. This has not stopped Microsoft from challenging the same data already in March. This week the very StatCounter decided to rebut criticism of Microsoft quite detailed.

In a lengthy open letter released on the site, not only the Statcounter cited each of the errors and omissions of the post Roger Capriotti, Microsoft, but it also showed the differences in metrics with Net Applications. They say, for example, there is a fundamental error in the post where Roger says to wear pageviews is wrong and we should use unique visitors (a metric Net Applications). The problem, says the StatCounter is that the Net Applications browser only accounts for one per day per user and therefore "the amount of use your browser or use another browser after that is completely ignored."

The method used to measure the StatCounter by using a browser is shown in the following video, published in May.

(YouTube Video)

Other points raised by StatCounter are related to the omission of Microsoft not to say that Net Applications does not reveal the amount of pageviews per month and also the fact that your competitor groups in the statistics of the Internet Explorer rendering engines similar to Maxthon and Lunascape. The StatCounter also says that the metrics relating to the increasing use of Chrome beats with ComScore, traffic analysis company and does not disclose your data - the confirmation came from a spokesman for the company during an interview.

I recommend reading the full text where the StatCounter tries (and in my view, can) prove that its metrics are more valid than those of Net Applications. And they even apologize to the Net Applications in the end, but I'm waiting for a response to high.

ASUS confirms Google tablet with display of 7-inch

An alleged representative of Asus has said a tablet is developed in direct partnership with Google with Android. Rumors in the vicinity of the subject are varied, so it's important to read the news at least one foot behind.

The Android Authority does not give names and merely say that such representative has confirmed the official announcement of the Google Tablet to the end of June. Who thought the conference Google I / O killed the first riddle.  One day the tablet out even Google, will be something with Nvidia Tegra 3, 7-inch display and production managed by Asus.

Is this what Android Authority and other websites specializing in technology believe. I wonder why the hell Google would not also a model with 9.7-inch display to go up against the best selling tablet market. The price would be between $ 150 and $ 250. In the worst case would give a little more than $ 500 without considering the costs and import taxes. Google I / O, the leading global conference Google happens 27-29 June in the United States.

At least the launch of Google Drive offline was also confirmed for the event. I believe that a Google Tablet (Tablet or Nexus) would serve to raise the level of the tablet running Android. Google uses this strategy with respect to smartphones and has been very successful with the Nexus One (made by HTC) and double Nexus Nexus Galaxy and S (manufactured by Samsung).

This allows the existence of a hot spot at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time, so that the file transfer and an even greater range of signal.

In the previous generation of AirPort Express, the jack connector was built into the body of the product. Now you need a power cord, which is the same used by Apple TV and the Mac Mini. Still, the new product has one Ethernet LAN port, which was only found in the AirPort Extreme. The USB port remains in the product, allowing to connect a hard drive for sharing and to make a backup or to share a printer wirelessly. The device also allows duplicate other existing wireless networks, and setup is easy: simply select the network and enter the password that the AirPort does the rest of the work.

Mozilla launches Firefox 13

Since Mozilla has adopted a cycle of quick updates in Firefox, it was difficult to find news on updates visible. Previously, the launch of a new version was much anticipated and celebrated with cake from Microsoft, but the latest versions have passed unnoticed by the media.

Fortunately, Firefox 13 broke this tradition and brings new features to the end user. The most visible change is certainly the new home page in Firefox. In addition to the traditional search box, there's a new bottom bar with icons that lead to the download manager, bookmarks, history of visited websites, themes and extensions manager, assistant synchronization and window browser options. We also have a giant button that loads the tabs open in the previous session. New home page in Firefox 13.

By clicking the button to restore the previous session, all the tabs appear at the top of the window, but they were not actually charged. That's because Firefox comes with a feature enabled by default, called Tabs on Demand. So even if you open multiple tabs at the same time, the content will only be charged when you click on the tab. This saves memory and also speeds up the startup speed of the browser. When opening a new tab, another novelty: thumbnails of most visited sites.

The proceedings began with Opera, Google Chrome arrived and is now also present in the red panda. Firefox automatically fills the rectangles with the most visited sites, but you can fix them permanently, or remove unwanted pages - either way, it is always better to access prohibited sites by private mode.

A novelty that appeared in about: support and should save the hair is the Restore button Firefox. If your browser is unusually slow or you just want to start all over again, just one click to reset all the settings and load only data such as passwords and favorites stored. No need to reinstall the browser, or create another profile.Crashed? Restores it solves.

Other minor changes were made: 13 Firefox now officially supports the protocol SPDY and should load more quickly the sites that make use of this technology (especially Google services like Gmail and Google Drive). Mozilla also included the smooth scrolling of pages, which makes navigation a little more enjoyable.Mozilla Firefox is expected to announce officially 13 until tomorrow, but the download in Portuguese of Brazil is now available for Windows, Linux 32-bit, 64 bit Linux and Mac OS X. If you do not have such a hurry, wait until the browser is automatically updated in a few hours.

Acer announces tablets, All-in-ones and ultrabook with Windows 8

Acer was one of the companies announcing new gadgets at the Computex 2012 event held in Taiwan this week. Like its competitor ASUS, announced today the gadgets are running Windows 8 and five different models of computers. The first is a common tablet, the second is a tablet hybrid, the third is a ultrabook with touch screen and the last two are two models of All-in-one, which seems to be the foot of this fair.

The Iconia W700 is a tablet with Windows 8 and processor Ivy Bridge from Acer. He has a 11.6 inch screen with 1280 x 1080 pixels resolution and comes with a support that leans back at an angle of 70 degrees and also has a speaker system Dolby Digital. According to The Verge, this model also has three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI and one Thunderbolt.

There is also estimated release. Already the ICONA W510 follows the format of the ASUS Transformer: a 10.1-inch tablet screen with detachable keyboard (or a notebook with a touch screen that stands out, depends on your look it over). He has, according to Acer, three modes: tablet (no keyboard), so productivity (with keyboard) and presentation mode (with the keyboard behind the screen). In the specifications, Acer did not declare anything other than him being a tablet with battery 18 hours. In terms of ultrabook, Acer showed that the minimum requirements and followed Intel's third generation of notebooks.

Your Aspire S7 is not convertible, but has a touch screen with 1080p resolution and that opens up to 180 degrees. As he is being called ultrabook the company, it is quite likely to have an Intel Core generation Ivy Bridge inside. It will be sold on models with 13.3 and 11.6 inches. For the field All-in-ones, showed the Acer Aspire 5600U and 7600U, devices that are increasingly taking note of the manufacturers. The Aspire 5600U has 23-inch screen while the 7600U is 27.

Both displays have full HD resolution support up to 64 touch points and the system comes with Dolby Home Theater sound. It seems that Acer is one of the only manufacturers to install Windows 8 on its vast portfolio. Strangely, the Iconia W510 that could fit into the field ultrabook was just like a convertible tablet that, at least for now. It amazes me the fact that a manufacturer be so restricted as to the specifications.

ASUS Transformer AiO comes with Windows 8 and Android

In addition to announcing a different notebook at Computex 2012, ASUS also brought a second innovation to the table, literally. The company showed the Transformer computer AiO All-in-one different in two respects. The first is the fact that it is dual-boot with the latest version of Android and Windows 8 already installed from the factory.

The second, and perhaps the strangest of them, is to have a 18.4 inch screen that stands out.  Close to the monster 22-inch ViewSonic announced yesterday by the Transformer AiO does not seem that big, but still scary. Its screen is LED backlit and supports up to 10 simultaneous touch points, which should be enough no matter the system. By the way, ASUS ensures that your computer has a transition between systems is very smooth, but according to Pocket-lint presentation on stage was not so.

One detail that is important to note is that even when it is decoupled from the base, the 18.4-inch tablet is not meant to be loaded with hands everywhere. It has a retractable rear support that allows you to stand on a flat surface. The column of its future users will thank you.

The rest of the specs of this model are still a mystery, but by running dual-boot Windows with Android 8 is possible to deduce that it has an ARM processor inside, maybe a line of NVidia Tegra. But we'll know for sure when the manufacturer releasing details. There is no estimated release date or price.

Toshiba launches ultrabook with ultra-wide-screen 21:9

To solve one of mankind's problems and remove the annoying black bars on the edges of videos, Toshiba today announced a ultrabook with 14-inch 21:9 screen and resolution very uncommon: 1792 × 768 pixels. With a screen so wide, you can see that the ultrabook is designed for entertainment.

The Toshiba Satellite has U840W processor family Intel Ivy Bridge, Harman Kardon speakers and doors sleep-and-charge (keep a powered USB port for charging gadgets) and sleep-and-music (lets you connect an MP3 player to the speaker the ultrabook). Should be a great laptop for watching movies, too bad he does not come with a Blu-ray. The Satellite U840W meets the main requirements of the Intel ultrabooks: is thin, lightweight and battery life above the market average.

Toshiba said that the model has a thickness of 2 inches and weighs less than 1.8 kg, making the model very portable - but maybe you need a special bag or backpack to carry it. The battery "lasts all day," but they did not divulge the exact number of hours ultrabook stand away from the outlet. The U840W also comes with three USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, HDMI video output, backlit keyboard and metal finish. The Intel WiDi, also this will allow you to connect your ultrabook to a monitor or TV without using cables.

The only problem is to find a monitor that supports WiDi, being honest, I only saw it once (and was an event of LG). The basic model will cost from U.S. $ 999 U.S. and will hit the market from July 15. You can buy it with a hybrid hard drive with 500 GB SSD 32 GB to cache frequently accessed files, but the top model comes with 256 GB SSD.

The ultra wide screen may not be so pleasant in the navigation of web pages, since most of the sites has not taken advantage vertical navigation and lateral spaces. Still, the Satellite U840W should be especially useful for those wishing to migrate to Windows 8 - Start the scrolling is horizontal, and Metro applications may be placed side by side without worrying about space.

Google acquires Quickoffice

This time, the Mountain View giant announced the acquisition of the company that develops applications Quickoffice suite. The value of the transaction was not disclosed, but considering that the Quickoffice Pro for Android has between 100,000 and 500,000 installations and a license costs between $ 30 and $ 40, we can say that several million dollars out of the coffers of the company commanded by Larry Page.  The announcement was made by Alan Warren, director of engineering at Google.

Alan says the suite will be integrated with the company's products: "Today, users, businesses and schools using Google Apps to do their jobs anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has a good track record in enabling interoperability with major file formats, and we will be working to bring its powerful technology to our Apps suite of products. "  Google is known for buying companies and freely available products that were previously paid.

So it was with Analytics, Urchin derived from expensive, and the technology behind the freemium Picnik, which was implemented in Picasa. Nevertheless, there is no evidence that the $ 14.99 charged by Quickoffice for smartphones or the $ 19.99 version for tablets to be cleared soon.

We do not know exactly how Google will help Quickoffice, but the huge base of users of the suite (more than 300 million installations) should help a lot with new customers, especially corporate, Google Drive. Moreover, rumors about a possible Microsoft Office iOS coming later this year, Google makes a product to enter the fray of mobile office suites. What are your bets?

In hands with Samsung Galaxy S III

Today Samsung launched the Galaxy S III in Brazil before many other countries that should receive the device, but here it had the slight disadvantage of coming without the application S Voice. Still, it is an important device to market, since it brings other news and is the third line of the famous Galaxy S.

I played a little with a demonstration of the equipment during the conference and you can see below my first impressions (along with a lot of pictures). Straight off, I can say is that it is incredibly thin and impossibly light. Even with huge 4.8 inch screen, the Galaxy S III does not despise these two strong elements of smartphones today. Its Super AMOLED screen, in fact, is awesome. It continues the legacy of the Galaxy S II, which also had a screen with the same technology.

But here it is 1280 x 720 pixels, unlike its predecessor 4.3-inch 800 x 480 pixels. At least there is no confusion as in the former, according to the president of Samsung Brazil, S III comes with Gorilla Glass 2. Unlike the S Voice, which only comes up in the fall update, the S Beam, file transfer functionality via NFC, is present in the device. A quick test showed that it works as it should, making the connection by proximity and subsequent transmission over WiFi Direct.

How often will you use this I do not know, but she is there. The camera of the Galaxy S III is proof that the sensor does not matter much that the manufacturers choose for the phone but the software that controls it. The ability to take 20 pictures continuously is a great feature for the 8-megapixel sensor of the device - sensor which, incidentally, is the same as the iPhone 4S. Another point I found interesting, this time involving the front camera is the feature that illuminates the screen when the user looks at it.

It worked better than I thought it would, to be honest. You ask, then, if it is worth being bought for R $ 2,099.00 with a functionality and just missing the option of 16 GB. Soon receive the device for review and then we can answer that answer with more property. For now, you may be drooling on the pictures.

Dell Launches New Inspiron ultrabooks with low price

The models can now be purchased in price from U.S. $ 700 - well below the $ 1,000 that manufacturers typically ask for your ultrabooks.  If these specifications are not enough for you, the 14Z can also be fitted with chips Core i7 and Core i5, and hard drives with 500 GB with 32 GB SSD integrated and receive other accessories, including an optical drive, making its price go up infinity.

The model can also come with various options of colors and external finishes. The 14Z is already sold in the U.S. and will land in Brazil "at the end of the third quarter," a figure not yet revealed. The 13Z is another ultrabook the line that divides all settings with the 14Z, except for the 13 inch screen. Starts at $ 600 and goes on sale June 19. Dell computers also showed the line Inspiron R.

Notebooks for traditional games and multimedia, are four models with screens 15 inches or 17 paquidérmicas with resolution of 1600 × 900 pixels. The computers come with chips or i7 and i5 can be equipped with Nvidia and 3D screens. The basic price of 15-inch model is $ 900 and 17-inch version costs $ 1,100 ($ 1,300 3D mesh).

Smartphones from HTC will be certified to run PlayStation games

The Japanese Sony announced on Tuesday (5), during E3, changes in PlayStation Suite for mobile devices, without much emphasis program launched in January 2011 and has so far yielded only fruit as the smartphone Xperia Play, which coincidentally is produced by a small company called ... oops, Sony.

From now on the suite is called the PlayStation and Mobile, like its predecessor, will run on Android, will have minimal hardware requirements and will allow users of certain devices can play older PlayStation titles on their smartphones and tablets that use Android operating system.

During the same presentation, the manufacturer also announced a partnership with HTC to license the PlayStation platform for Mobile smartphones from Taiwan.  The attempt by Sony is gaining ground in the world of mobile gaming in the same way that their consoles have a comfortable position in the gaming market. Its biggest competitors are solutions like the Apple Game Center, iOS, and the numerous games that can be freely downloaded by Google Play or App Store.

Already HTC's strategy is to use the PlayStation certification to boost sales of their phones, relying on the vast amount of accessories such as cameras and sophisticated sound system Beats, to try to win some customers. One of the line appliances (One X One One S and V) will be the first to receive certification.

Passwords of 6.5 million users of LinkedIn leaks

If you have an account on LinkedIn, this is a good time to change your password. A user of a Russian forum claims to have gained access to millions of passwords for social network users.

To prove his feat, they leaked a file encrypted with exactly 6458020 combinations on the internet, but without their user names. Today is not a good day for the service: the story comes after the application to iOS LinkedIn being accused of violating the privacy of users.

As the developers of LinkedIn were smart enough not to store passwords in plaintext in the database, only the hashes of combinations leaked. All are encrypted in SHA-1, which makes the discovery of the passwords more difficult but not impossible, especially for users who have the habit of using very common combinations or words found in dictionaries.

It is true that the password file may be false as recently happened with Twitter, but reports from users on the Internet give credibility to the subject, as stated by The Verge.

Several of them found their password hashes in the middle of the file and some combinations point to the word "linkedin", which indicates that the codes are not random. The team announced that LinkedIn is investigating the case and checking users' information.Even today, the security company Skycure Security found that the LinkedIn application sends the data without permission of the calendars of users of iOS for the company's servers, including information such as subject, location, notes and schedule. To make matters worse, these details are sent in plain text, compounding the problem.

LinkedIn, in turn, said that everything is transmitted by SSL and never stores information of the schedule. As in any leak of passwords, the recommendation is to change your password as soon as possible on LinkedIn. If you used the same combination in other services, it is also important to change your password at all.
