Apple unveils new AirPort Express

Today was the WWDC, one of the major events that Apple uses to launch new products. This time some products had passed hit the main presentation: the Smart Case, case for the new iPhone, and now a new version of AirPort Express, Apple's wireless router.


The AirPort Express is highly praised for its size. Slightly larger than the iPhone charger, the router has a range of signal out of the ordinary and its configuration is very simple. Now with a new design that closely resembles Apple TV, AirPort Express features support Wi-Fi dual-band. This allows the existence of a hot spot at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time, so that the file transfer and an even greater range of signal.

In the previous generation of AirPort Express, the jack connector was built into the body of the product. Now you need a power cord, which is the same used by Apple TV and the Mac Mini. Still, the new product has one Ethernet LAN port, which was only found in the AirPort Extreme. The USB port remains in the product, allowing to connect a hard drive for sharing and to make a backup or to share a printer wirelessly. The device also allows duplicate other existing wireless networks, and setup is easy: simply select the network and enter the password that the AirPort does the rest of the work.

One of the interesting features and the AirPort Express is the audio output from a 3.5 mm jack. Through AirPlay, wireless audio protocol from Apple, you can listen to music from an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPhone or computer wirelessly and without complications. You can connect your speakers or audio system of your choice with the convenience of playing music while the device connected to cables.

The price remains the same as the previous generation in the United States: $ 99. However, in Brazil, the price rose from $ 349 to $ 479. It's a shame because the AirPort Express is an excellent router. The product is now available for sale at the Apple Store Online.
