Galaxy Nexus wins Windows Phone, but user not wins

Microsoft has caused controversy by promoting Smoked by Windows Phone. The campaign initially created during CES 2012, the evangelist's platform, Ben Rudolph, challenged owners of other smartphones to perform certain tasks faster than HTC Ultimate, showing the practicality and the shortcuts that the system offers. If you win, you win $ 100, but very few managed the feat.

The Smoked by Windows Phone was so successful that appeared on one of Microsoft's stores in the United States. The owner of a Galaxy Nexus, Sahas Katta, won a Windows Phone in a task that was to check the weather forecast in two different cities. Everything was prepared for the seller of the challenge Microsoft - two Live Tiles were all ready to be seen on screen, but the Android user used the same tactic.

The owner of Galaxy Nexus was still smarter and got a split second advantage over Windows Phone disabling the lock screen of Android. While the seller needed to slide the screen up on your Windows Phone, Sahas Katta had to just push a button. As a reward he would gain a notebook valued at $ 1,000 and a smartphone, but it was not what happened.

Although faster, Microsoft said that he lost the challenge but should check the forecast for two different cities in two different states, something that had not been said before. After publishing the story in several international sites and effect on social networking, Ben Rudolph apologized publicly on Twitter and provided the prizes. The question is if the Android user actually win prizes if not all the noise.

Samsung Announces Series 9 and Series 5 Ultra notebooks

In-line 7 Series notebooks updated last week at an event in Sao Paulo, Samsung also informed about the latest line of notebooks Series 9 and Series Ultra 5. Products must arrive with very competitive price (see below) in the first half of this year the Brazilian market.

Line 9 Series includes the "15-inch premium notebook thinner and more compact in the world," according to promotional material supplied by Samsung. The display of 15 "was introduced into a housing 14" notebook with the development of a new way to position the screen without the edges are too thick.

The more observant may notice that the technique adopted by the manufacturer is very similar to the LG ultrabook Z330 (the one that starts Windows 7 in less than 10 seconds). LG also exists in the idea of reducing the edges of the screens to fit a larger display in a smaller housing.

Series 9
According to the catalog provided by Samsung, the Series 9 comes in two models: 13 "with 1.19 cm thick and weighing 1.16 kg, and 15" with a thickness of 1.49 cm and weight of 1.59 kg. Both should hit the market in late June with prices starting from $ 2,999, according to Tony Firjam, director of IT Division at Samsung Brazil.

The Ultra 5 Series (Model 530U) will also come in two choices of screen size: 13 "and 14". The smallest have Intel GPU HD 3000 Graphics that shares system memory (4 GB). The second largest of the line, uses AMD Radeon HD 7550M GPU with 1GB GDDR3.

Arriving in Brazil also at the end of the first half, the 5 Series (or Series 5 in English) starts at R $ 2,399.

Both "series" system using Windows 7.

Series 5
Difference between "series"
Samsung has strengthened the line of notebooks in the country. Between one and another conference in the Samsung Forum, I spoke with Tony Firjam, director of sales and marketing for IT in the company, about the future of South Korea with respect to portable computers. Let's dispel the confusion on the subject?

3 Series notebooks are the mass, those that vary between models and the intermediate input. Series 5 means ultrabooks Samsung's devices that follow the standards set by Intel in terms of size and performance to enter the category. In the 7 Series are the high-performance notebooks to consumers looking for a lot of processing. Finally, the Series 9 is the line of superlatives: Firjam account that there come apparatus thinner, lighter, faster market. "They have equipment to differentiate from competitors."

Firjam also cites the "series" 4:06, developed for corporate clients. Therefore, the type of product you will not see in the store shopping.

Samsung does not copy the design of the MacBook: marketing director

Direct from Samsung Forum in Peru - Every now and then we publish news releases notebooks. Every now and then the company - no matter what - is accused of copying the design that Apple uses in its products. Today, to elucidate a bit of this story, I talked about it with Tony Firjam, director of IT sales and marketing at Samsung. He says the South Korean company does not copy the products of the apple.

The matter came when we talked about the products of Series 5 and 9 Series of notebooks from Samsung, announced today for the Brazilian market. Firjam defended copy of the charges saying that Samsung developed its products relying totally on what the customer craves. Sometimes, this means that the company drink supply others - competing in most of the time.

- The tendency of outside is done in partnership with the consumer. There is a copy. Each company launches its own products. From there, the market opens. Many times, product models are similar [to that competition does].

Notebook Ultra Series 5
Since it was at this level, I could not fail to mention that Firjam to the recently announced Series 7 Cronos uses brushed steel casing and backlit keyboard, trademarks of Apple MacBooks (not that it was the first or only to produce such equipment, but it sure was the one that created a halo around those specifics). The executive said that Samsung analyze consumer behavior and develops products that meet a variety of needs.

The backlit keyboard is necessary to make writing easier in dark environments, the brushed metal casing works much better. End Point, according to Firjam.

One point that our chief editor Thiago Mobilon raised in the writing of Tecnoblog on the Series 7 Cronos (he even says this in the podcast) is the multitouch that, based on the motion to spend four fingers up and down on the touchpad, makes the system to activate the WinKey + Tab to show open applications in a three dimensional environment. Firjam says this is an operating system feature that Samsung and it does not interfere.

These are the official responses from Samsung about the issue "copy". The company is constantly being challenged in the courts to use ideas from other companies (you know who I'm talking about) in their products. Day by day, lawyers to defend South Korea. Let us see to what extent.

60% of users are already running the latest version of IOS

While manufacturers of smartphones and tablets with Android run to update the software of its many appliances, Apple's work is much easier. A developer commits 61% of users are already running iOS 5.1.0.

The study does not consider all users of the platform, but provides a good sample to have idea how to go for updates on iOS. Audiobooks The developer, David Smith, gathered some statistics related to the versions used by its customers. The manager is a Audiobooks audio books for iPhone, iPhone and iPod Touch, with around 100,000 downloads per week.

Two weeks after the release of iOS 5.1.0, on March 6, 61% of users have already adopted the new version. Versions prior to 5.0 are represented by only 21% of users Audiobooks. It is a stark contrast compared to official data released by Android, where only 1.2% running version 4.0.3 and the overwhelming majority (95.1%) is at version 2.3.7 or earlier.

Updates over-the-air greatly facilitated the rapid adoption of newer versions. So much so that, considering only the users of iOS 5, the percentage of devices with the latest version rises to 77%. It's a shame that Android manufacturers do not use the same model from Apple. Maintaining outdated systems force users to buy new equipment and hinders the implementation of new features in applications, delaying the development of the Android ecosystem. Who remembers Internet Explorer 6?

Manufacturers submit proposals for standard nano-SIM

With little fight from the manufacturers to see who produces the thinnest smartphone or battery with higher capacity, it is necessary to reduce the size of some components. One is the SIM card, the one chip that identifies your phone on a network and stores some data, such as your address book. When the micro-SIM was adopted, many had to do workarounds to make a normal SIM fit the iPhone or iPhone. And the guides hacks should return.

The ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standards body that controls the phone in Europe, is examining proposals for the new standard 4FF - better known as nano-SIM. Apple, Nokia and RIM had their ideas and fight for your projects become standards. A technology used in many smartphones can mean good money in royalties and control the market, hence the interest.

The nano-SIM by Apple.
Apple's proposal is the simplest and might allow for backward compatibility with standard micro-SIM and SIM - SIM-nano apple is basically a micro-SIM without the excess plastic around the edges. The controversy revolves around the need for a tray external to the chip to be inserted and removed without difficulty, then ultimately gain space would be zero. Furthermore, as a measure has practically equal to the micro-SIM, SIM-nano could also be stuck to a user placed the chip in iPhone 4S, for example. It does not seem very smart.

Nokia and RIM had the most innovative ideas: the nano-SIM of the Finnish company is the smallest of all, measuring 10 mm x 8 mm and having a characteristic shape of SD cards, with a triangular cut on one end and contacts in the form of strips. Considering the influence of Nokia in Europe, it is likely that their standard is chosen, but only know the final answer after the vote that takes place next week.

What we know so far is: if the standard Apple is not the widely adopted, not good to cut your chip common to make it fit a new smartphone or tablet. You will not get.

Even elephants like to use the touchscreen

Let's combine videos of children and cats using tablets become very mainstream. The business is now starting to reach animals, and this video shows one elephant with a Note Galaxy. Yes, an elephant.

It is not only touch the surface that Peter turns very well. Even the much criticized Note the stylus becomes a toy in the hand of the elephant, allowing him to use their creativity to design the device paquidérmica.

Sure, many might say that the video has undergone editing or special effects, but there are two additional videos showing scenes without cuts and editing, where Peter really enjoys the Note. (video 1 and video 2). And it seems natural that one can operate the elephant with his trunk Note: one of the main advantages of the device is that even people with very large fingers (or fat) can operate it without difficulty.

So if you have an elephant in the room and not know what to buy him (or if you're an elephant) see the video above and be sure to see our review of the Galaxy Note.

6th Birthday of Twitter

Today is a very special birthday for someone who gave us so much pride and joys.  this is "anniversary" of Twitter, which completes six years on Wednesday.

It was on March 21, 2006 Jack Dorsey, co-founder and developer of the site, published the message that would go down in history as the starting point of the service (and break up to that time revealed that Twitter would probably have another name).

The address of the message shows that in fact it was the 20th tweet published, but that ended up being the oldest surviving peep to inspire all of civilization. Since then things have changed a bit. Using the network exploded worldwide in late 2008 when he won some space in the media thanks to the use of social networks of the U.S. election, and has been growing steadily since then.

In its fifth anniversary Twitter claimed to have more than 200 million accounts and 100 million active users, who made 250 million posts daily. Today announced that it has 140 million active users, who post 340 million messages every day, remarkable growth in 12 months. "That means more than a billion tweets every three days. Note that there is much to be said, "jokes the company on his blog. Just as a comparison, the mark of 1 billion tweets took 18 months to be achieved by service users.

Either way the numbers are modest near unofficial surveys made by other companies, which point up to 500 million users.

Apple, Motorola and Nokia fight for standardization of nano-SIM

In May last year a possible new standard for SIM card was proposed, the chip responsible for connecting your mobile device to the network service provider. This new standard, called nano-SIM has been proposed by Apple and has already produced prototypes at the end of last year, after receiving strong support from operators. Now he is about to be approved, Motorola, Nokia and RIM decided that it is not good enough.

The vote on the new standard will happen in the ETSI, the institute responsible for the standardization of European telecommunication items, next week. But according to the Financial Times, the manufacturers say they will have to redo their devices to accommodate the new chip, which requires a kind of drawer to stay in place (similar to what Apple has implemented into their iPhones and Cases and the Nokia N9).

Also there is another problem involving patents: Apple would own the design of the proposed nano-SIM, which would give it total control and empowers to provide the standard for businesses through a license, not something that appeals to manufacturers. And we also know how Apple loves a fight over patents.

In place of the new standard created by Apple, Nokia has proposed one that was accepted by Motorola and RIM, but could not so much support on the part of operators in Europe, even if he has "several technological advantages" over the design of apple company . Still, as Nokia has the most votes in ETSI, the new standard is far from decided.

The idea was to implement it on new phones by the end of this year. But this dispute does not seem to stop going to end anytime soon and therefore, this estimate can be thrown further forward.

YouTube launches automatic correction feature for videos

Many image editing software have a feature for automatic correction to make life easier for lazy users. If your camera is not the best, with just one click you can fix brightness, contrast and sharpness of the picture. Now YouTube took the same idea for the videos.

The news is one more feature to the video editor, launched in June 2010. The editor contains tools to cut unwanted parts and add background music royalty free. You can also rotate the image - useful if you filmed with a cellphone camera in the wrong orientation. Last year he won the tool features video stabilization and change in the image.

From now on YouTube itself suggest improvements. After submitting a video to Google's servers, algorithms detect whether the image is dark or flickering and advise the user to use the stabilization feature and increased brightness. In the notice, changed the video is displayed beside the original, making the comparison. If you think looks good, click the button to save your changes.

Since the original video remains safe, you can use the tool without fear. At any time, if necessary, just go to editor and restore the original settings and apply effects. If the video is sent from a mobile device, you will be advised of the improvements when accessing YouTube later on your computer.

First Look at the new Apple iPad 3 (2012)

First Look at the new Apple iPad 3 (2012) Video by Cnet.

Yahoo handles Facebook for patent infringement

The war of technology patents, which was previously concentrated in the area of mobile phone makers, moved today to companies connected to the web with a new lawsuit against Facebook by Yahoo. Altogether Yahoo claims that Mark Zuckerberg's social network in 13 different patents infringe the company, involving among other things online ads, social networks and even instant messaging.

About the process, Yahoo! released the following statement, loosely translated:

"Yahoo has invested substantial resources in research and development for years, which resulted in several patents on technology that other companies have licensed. These technologies are the foundation of our business, which engages more than 700 million unique visitors monthly and represents the spirit of innovation in which Yahoo was built. Unfortunately, the problem with Facebook is still unresolved and we find ourselves forced to seek compensation in federal court. We are confident that we will triumph.

In late February, Yahoo has already said that sue Facebook if I could not reach an agreement. It seems that they went ahead with the promise that filing a lawsuit Monday in a district of San Francisco, California.

About the process, Facebook told The Next Web site that "we are disappointed with [the fact that] the effort to try Yahoo's agreement with us was limited to a few calls and we only found out about new developments [news] in the press . We will defend ourselves vigorously against these actions enigmatic. "

My advice? Grab the popcorn and soda. This novel will be long.

Sony announces Xperia Sola, with screen "floating ring"

Sony announced a new phone Xperia line that may not have the best name to be sold in countries that speak Portuguese, but offers an interesting feature that can make it stand out from other Android market. Called Xperia Sola, the handset comes with something called "floating ring" in free translation. It allows the user to surf the web without touching the screen.

While it is a different functionality, I do not see much use if it is not implemented in other aspects of mobile navigation. And I'm very curious about how it works behind the scenes.

Despite its advantage, the outsole specifications partially comes out of phase compared to the rest of the market. 1 GHz dual-core, 8 GB of internal storage, 3.7 inch screen with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel camera that supports video capture in 720p and ntil 1320 mAh battery. There is no estimated price or release date yet, but Sony at least ensures that the Android 2.3 that comes with it will be updated to Android 4.0.

Google, Facebook to face trial in India for not cooperating with censorship

It starts today in New Delhi, India, a major trial that has Google and Facebook as defendants. Communications regulatory authorities in the country have questioned the ability of the two Internet giants to promote effectively the censorship law determined by the legislators. Executives from Google and Facebook may be sentenced to serve time in prison, at worst.

Since last year, India has increased the terms that must pass internet censorship available to Internet sites. Just as the Great Firewall of China, a broad category of content is at the mercy of the judgment of regulators and, if so decided, should be removed from the internet. Among the categories are excluded content "ethically questionable," "grossly harmful," "defamatory" and "blasphemy."

Set
The charge part of the journalist (!) Vinay Rai, who found material "harmful" in various sites, including Facebook, YouTube and Orkut (the latter two are owned by Google). According to the journalist, was offensive or obscene material pejorative figure of Christianity, Hinduism and Islam.

The Wall Street Journal gives the following examples of content that Indian law prohibits: video related to Hinduism, Islam; offensive comments about an Indian policeman who died in a helicopter crash.

By law, Internet companies are required to delete offensive content, up to 36 hours after receiving an official notification of regulators. However, the companies concerned have questioned the applicability of legislation in user-generated content, it becomes much harder to control this type of publication (whether in text, photo or video).

Some legal experts say the case is important because it highlights the controversy in the censorship imposed by the Indian government. Google and Facebook are demanding that the action is lacking, but will only be heard formally on the matter in May. The trial, in turn, begins today.

CEO of Mozilla Talks About Laws Regarding Internet

Not only in our region that the government commits their gaffes with the online world. Although the proposed U.S. law SOUP has apparently been defeated in the U.S., the battle scars of the Internet against the U.S. lawmakers are still vivid among some bigwigs from the world of technology. Gary Kovacs, CEO of Mozilla, said during a speech at the SXSW Festival that he was surprised to hear that Congress intended to hire staff that "understands" the web.

"If you do not understand the web, so has no place in a government (...) It is not something you learn or hire someone to do it. The network has to be the way a person lives his life, "said the CEO.

In January, Mozilla joined giants like Google and Wikipedia to combat anti-piracy laws that were in the U.S. vote, but Kovacs said that in future the foundation must keep away from political hit. "That's not our place," he said, adding that it will continue devoting to "protect the web."

In response to the record labels, studios and game developers who accused Internet companies to "manipulate" the public, Kovacs was categorical: "The sites will facilitate communication between the public and Members. We help 30 million people to fight (...) 30 million people are not nerds, they are citizens, "he added.

Learn how to turn your smartphone into a microscope

Today, fashion is aging and often ruin the way people have seen the world closer through their smartphones. Some people adore and some people hate.

Personally, I do not consider the act basically shooting poorly embellish photos taken with Instagram, picplz, etc., through dozens of filters "enfeiadores" - even if it is ultra fun. But that is personal and photography goes well beyond merely opinions.

Professional equipment for macro images for example, are usually more expensive, require a bit more knowledge about photography, as well as a good result is a direct product of the use of proper technique and not to invent a lot.

But who says you need to spend much to go even beyond the macro. How about you use your smartphone and try this image of a micro focus? Yes, that right there.

How? Free.

Important: If you repeat the experiment below, do not tell me then with tearful email saying that your smartphone's camera stopped working because water has gotten inside. Yes, that's right. H2O. Water.

That said, let the list of equipment you need:

A smartphone with a camera minimally decent
A drop of water
In the image below you will see a simple pen with a drop placed on its end.

The reason you use a - or any other object capable of positioning the drop on the lens of the smartphone - is quite simple: you need to put it there with the smartphone face down, already in position to take the picture.

Or, if you want you can try a dropper over the lens and then spend the rest of the month trying to turn the smartphone to shoot.

The next step is to take the picture. The image should come into focus with approximately 1.5 cm distance between the lens and the object you want to capture. It may be even closer, depending on the lens of your smartphone.

A detail is that the drop evaporates very quickly, so be practical and brief. The images below were taken with my iPhone 4, whose camera is there great things in the kitchen of my office without any treatment and with natural light.

I wonder what could come out of a Nokia N8 (Carl Zeiss) or with something other than 5 megapixels and all hipsterhype that can exist in a single device.

It would be nice if you sent links to the results he could obtain.

If you decide to try.

Google Chrome bug fixes in 24 hours but still honors the discoverer

The team of Google developers  ran out of time and managed to deliver a patch only 24 hours after it was exposed during the CanSecWest conference, which challenges hackers (word used here with good intentions) to detect and expose security flaws for those responsible for software. the issue was a vulnerability in Chrome.

It was the Russian student Sergey Glazunov who discovered the exploit and took care to show the fault to the staff of Google. Once you understand the problem, they rushed to the source code and updated the browser. If you are a fan of Google's browser will probably not notice, but the update is available and probably installed on your computer without even draw your attention to this fact.

On page on the latest releases of Chrome, a Google representative congratulated the student for finding a critical error code CVE-2011-3046. It's about UXSS and browsing history problematic.

Mine is updated. And yours?
Google declined to comment on details about the vulnerability. They are right, since there are still unsuspecting users with browser versions without the patch. The great advantage of Chrome's distribution system is precisely this: the speed with which users get an update. Evil tongues say that a similar patch would take months to be released if found in Internet Explorer. How much evil ...

Besides helping the Internet in general, the Russian also won a nice prize. Pocketed $ 60,000 for a simple bug in Google Chrome. Not bad! Let him continue being paid well to make our navigation more secure.

Google is just one of several sponsors of the CanSecWest (still has Microsoft, Blackberry, Intel, Amazon, Adobe Kaspersky and always present).

The Optimus L7 has a unique design that should attract more consumers of refined taste, so to speak. And the device is actually very nice, although I found a bit feminine. Prejudice aside, it uses Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Android App lets you develop applications for Android

To create Android applications you need a Java development environment, which is the language in which applications are made, and the development kit platform. As there are several environments available and the SDK is multiplatform, you can develop on Windows, Mac OS and Linux. An application released today further extends the possibilities of the platform by allowing developers to create applications, you see, straight from Android.

This is the AIDE, which means Android Java IDE (Integrated Development Environment). It contains all the elements and basic libraries for creating Android applications, and also has code completion, error checking in real time, formatting and also compilation and execution of APKs. And all this without even requiring that the device is rooteado.

The application is free and available in the Android Market now. He may not have enough clout to more complex applications which require import of external libraries, but is available for tablets and smartphones running Android 2.2 at least.

HP workstation now gets 512 GB of memory

HP on Tuesday announced the newest generation Z Series Workstations, family of computers for professional applications that require high processing capabilities, such as hospitals, engineering firms, or video editing and animation.

The entire line is equipped with the powerful Intel Xeon chips, but the highlight is that the models can get a bearing - amazingly enough - up to 512 GB of RAM installed under the hood.

Who says computers are not legal professionals?
The honor belongs to the Z820 model, top of line in your configuration you can get more powerful with two eight-core Xeon processors running at 3.1 GHz, 14 TB of storage and 512 GB of RAM.

If this is not enough, the graphics processing is secured by two Nvidia Quadro 6000 graphics cards. In his gut, the T-Rex in the world of computers displays seven entries for Sata hard drives and 16 memory slots, capable of holding combs DDR3 up to 32GB of capacity, all compressed into an aluminum case with 44.4 cm x 20.3 to 52.5 deep. Same size as an ordinary desktop PC.

The other models in the line are the Z420 and Z620, which have modest settings close to his older brother. The first relies on the services of only one chip Xeon up to 2.9 GHz and "only" 64 GB of RAM, while the latter already has two processors and can have up to 96 GB of RAM. All models of the Z Series Workstations can run Windows 7 Professional or Linux.

The sales models are scheduled to begin in April. In its basic version, the affordable Z820 sells for $ 2,299 (£ 4000) and arrives with two Xeon 1.8 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. The value of the machine with all its options has not been disclosed, but it certainly tends to infinity.

Blogger's note: 512 GB of RAM is a figure so absurd, so absurd, but for today, there was a typing error in the title, in which the acronym was changed by GB MB in the first version. Until another day lived between computers that showed 512 MB of RAM and it's kind of hard to get rid of old habits. We apologize to readers who ended up running into this error and appreciate those who can readily point out the flaw.

Apple to end patents war with Samsung and Motorola

Before he died, Steve Jobs said that Android was stolen and a system that "spend all $ 40 billion that Apple has in the bank" to destroy him. This reality may be more distant if the rumors are true that appeared yesterday. According to sources the news agency Dow Jones Newswires, the giant apple can reach an agreement with the manufacturers suing if they agree to pay a fee for selling Android.

The source says the agency be familiar with the negotiations going on between Apple and its rivals Motorola and Samsung. She says the giant apple "is open to create agreements with its competitors" and this agreement includes the payment of royalties from patents on Android. The value of these payments? From 5 to $ 15 by selling Android. The agency also says that the agreement should not be offered to other manufacturers that Apple is suing for Android.

This is not the first time that Apple made the offer - before the processes are started, the company had tried unsuccessfully to an agreement. Now, months after opening, negotiations on royalties would have returned to the table.

If any of the agreements is actually closed, will not be the first time that a company that is not directly involved with the Android invoice with the sale of handsets: Microsoft has done it a few months ago and now earns an estimated $ 10 by Android, HTC sold, among other manufacturers.

App Store reaches 25 billion downloads this week

App Store reaches 25 billion downloads this week. according to the apple It was downloaded by a consumer in China.

When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they are today, or that developers would create so many amazing apps for users of IOS," said Eddy Cue, VP of software and services internet.

The history of the App Store is amazing. He reached the first billion and a half downloads in July 2009, at 2 billion in September of that year, 3 billion in January 2010 and in January 2011 commemorating the 10 billion, and in July last year claimed to have beaten the house the 15 billion downloads of apps.

Currently holds 550,000 App Store applications, available in 123 countries. Only iPad are more than 170,000 native apps, designed for the screen size and the resources that a user wants tablet.

The company said the App Store has paid more than $ 4 billion to developers.

In a statement Apple has not even a peep about the Mac App Store, the App Store for Mac I've been curious to know how many will shop desktop. Probably became more important when the Lion out, since the system is distributed strongly in the store. With the arrival of the Mountain Lion thing tends to be more aggressive because the store will be the default center for installing apps on the system (to protect the users with the resource gatekeeper, Apple says).

Android Market applications limit increases to 4 GB

Google announced yesterday a paradigm shift in its application store. Developers who once could send to the Android Market applications with up to 50 MB in size at most received an increase in the limit. Now they can provide applications with up to 4 GB. The reason for the increase in size of 80 times? Games.

According to what explains the team of engineers and product managers on the official blog of Android development, oo new limit was implemented because of the large amount of interactive 3D games, which take much more space than 50 MB. And to make clear the size of APKs must still be 50 MB, but developers will be able to add 2 expansion files to them (each with 2 GB maximum) and will be automatically downloaded with the original application.

Before that you probably already know what happened if you were one of the buyers of more stocky Androids coming with embedded games: When you open the game, he connected on the web to download the rest of the data server directly from the company that distributes the game. Now these expansions can be downloaded directly from Google's servers, which will host the applications.

In contrast, Apple's app store limits the size of applications to 2 GB (according to developers, Apple said nothing about it). Have the store of Windows Phone, nobody knows, nobody saw, the limit is 225 MB per application.
