Facebook tests new design for Timeline

Not too long ago that the use of the new timeline on Facebook became mandatory for all members (and pages of companies) on the site. In fact, this happened in January this year. Now the network is already planning a new social change: according to the TPM site, a redesign of the timeline is already being tested with some users.

In the new "new" timeline, there is a greater emphasis on the cover image of a profile. On her part to be displayed are the user information such as name, where you live, a company that works and where he is studying. Conversely, some areas have lost prominence: the pictures, avatars of friends, map and 'tanned' that were presented in a set of images below the hood, the new design will be shown in text only.

One of the editors of the site, Carl Franzen, who was rewarded with a new version of the timeline contacted confirmed that Facebook is testing this new look with a portion of the members. As always, there is no forecast for when this new timline will be implemented for the rest of the members or if she will not undergo further changes.

This is the layout of Facebook as well: wait you get used to the redesign of a page to replace it. Ok, so there are not many changes, but that does not mean that users can not (as always) complain. And I bet my left arm it is that a large portion of them will do.

New Xbox Coming In 2013

Although Microsoft categorically deny any information about the development of a new generation for the Xbox, a contract between two studios leaked this week says otherwise. The document states that a possible replacement for the Xbox 360 is (or at least was) expected to hit stores in the third quarter of 2013.

In 2010, the publisher Activision Blizzard has won a contract with the studio Bungie, creator of Halo, for the development of an MMO called Destiny. The request included exclusive versions of games for both Xbox 360 and for an Xbox 720, even though he swears that the MS does not exist. At the time, companies had signed for the creation of four games that begin to be marketed from the end of 2013, with three sequences each.

The "revelation" happened by accident during the trial of a lawsuit against the distributor Actvision Vincent Zampella and Jason West, developers of the game Call of Duty. The contract lawyers revealed by Activision Blizzard also notes that a version of Destiny game for the PS3 would arrive "at the end of 2014," while a mysterious PS4 is slated to receive the Destiny 2 - this without any date or release date.

Earlier this year rumors indicated that the design of next-generation Xbox went by the codename Durango (which follows the standard Microsoft to baptize their projects with names of geographical locations). Rumors around the appliance caught fire when Sean Tracy, chief designer of Crytek (Crysis responsible for) said on Twitter that I was participating in ume "meeting in London on the Durango," message that was deleted shortly after.

According to the website Pocket Lint, manufacturing units of the Durango has already begun on the company Flextronics factory in Austin, Texas. Far from being the end product, the machines will be used by producers for the creation of the first titles for the next Xbox.

Ballmer predicts 500 million users on Windows 8 in 2013

The anticipated Windows 8 should be released before the end of this year and, despite changes of interface scare more conservative users, the expected adoption of the system is great. The proof came out of Steve Ballmer's own mouth: he says that by the end of 2013, 500 million users will install the new system.

The statement was given in a presentation to the CEO of Microsoft in South Korea The executive also said that Windows 8 is "the rebirth of the Microsoft Windows" and also said that "it is certainly the most important work we've done." When asked about Skype, Ballmer said that a version for Windows 8 (probably with the support interface meters) will be released "soon" but did not say how soon it should happen.

Much is said of the big news of Windows 8, mostly on what Microsoft is doing to improve the user experience with the system. But is that such news will even make it to have all that Ballmer expects this adoption? That change will stop some users on Windows 7 right? We'll have to wait to find out, but I bet many will wait to upgrade (I'll be one of them). The forecast is that in October this year the system is already available for sale.

Remember that in July 2010, one year after its release, Windows 7 had sold "only" 170 million licenses. Already the latest figures released by Microsoft in January this year, realize that more than 525 million licenses of the system had been sold.

Investors accused Mark Zuckerberg of promoting fraudulent IPO

It makes just a week that the actions of Facebook had its debut on Nasdaq U.S. stock market, focused on technology companies. The price paid per share has been falling every day, which raises questions about a possible dot-com bubble of the decade. Amid this situation, the first social network of investors when the company was out of the bag, opened action against the government accusing Zuckerberg of Facebook and the whole troupe to promote a fraudulent IPO.

Investors concerned say Facebook hid some projections about the growth of the site that could be decisive for the purchase of additional shares during the IPO, the largest in the technology sector.

The bank Morgan Stanley and Mark Zuckerberg are nominally quoted. According to the complainants, was somewhat pessimistic projections about the growth of Facebook due to the expansion of the site on mobile devices. Since the phones and tablets no propaganda, is in doubt the ability of the social network to generate revenue from this activity - considered the main site (in addition to selling our data on the black market, if you depend on some adherents of the theory of conspiracy).

Such a report that the expected growth would not be met was shared by Morgan Stanley days before the IPO to a select group of investors. The information should go through full disclosure, investors complain that the sign process.

Regulators of the stock market of the United States notes the report published by Reuters news agency, according to a report published by CNN Money.

This week we got the news that Facebook is among the companies most valuable brand in the world, a list that includes Microsoft, IBM, Amazon and Apple, giants for years. We also learned that a new design for the Timeline is in development.

Low cost Google Tablet arrives in July

The rumors that a Nexus Tablet would be launched on the market later in 2012 are not new, but new information shows that the tablet by Google hit the market in July and will be quite affordable, with prices ranging from $ 199 to U.S. $ 249, directly competing with the Kindle Fire, currently the most popular Android tablet market.

The tablet was developed in partnership with Asus has 7-inch screen. Initially, 600 000 units to be manufactured, but the Mountain View company expects to sell up to 2.5 million devices in 2012. According to Taiwanese DigiTimes, Google planned to release a tablet input in May, but the design and manufacturing costs did not reach expectations and the schedule was delayed.

With the Nvidia plaforma Kai, you can bring the quad-core Tegra 3 for Nexus Tablet absurdly without increasing prices, which may affect sales of the Kindle Fire. Despite the Amazon to sell your tablet for only $ 199 at the North American market, the Android 2.3 device has a highly modified and does not allow access to Play Store, the user is limited to Amazon's App Store. Bad for Amazon, good for us - when the toy arrived in Brazil, of course.

If all goes well, the tablet low cost will be announced during the conference for developers Google I / O, what happens in San Francisco between 27th and June 29th. As expected, Asus and Google said they would not comment on rumors or market speculation.

Google+ for Android is updated and is similar to the app for iOS

Out of nowhere, Google has decided to renew the interface of the mobile application of its widely used Google + social network. Amazingly, the IOS was awarded the upgrade before your darling Android, which has always preferred to launch applications from the search giant. Now, the update reached the green robot bringing several innovations in application design.

The new Google + prioritizes the image to text, and brings the user experience more g? Ráfica, as in Flipboard. The typography was modified, making reading much more smooth and enjoyable. Check out the images:

Although the change is radical, the Android application is not identical to the iPhone. The icons remain in an upper bar, and some were kept gestures, such as to change the feed slide. The interface of hangouts showed a slight shift in time to invite friends to chat, displaying their contact pictures and easier to find.

The application is now available for update in Google Play. However, there are many owners of Android phones that will enjoy the new version: the application page in the store indicates that the versions of applications can vary depending on the version of Android installed. It's a shame, but it's the price you pay for "differentiation", defended by Eric Schmidt.

Android smartphone sales dominates market

According to IDC  152.3 million smartphones were sold in early 2012 and 59% of them where with Android while iOS on 23% of them.

"The popularity of Android and iOS is due to a combination of factors that competitors have struggled to keep up with (...) Neither were the first to reach the market or offer a number of features, but the user experience easy and intuitive offering made quickly won followers in mass, "says Ramon Llamas (haha," Llamas "), a senior analyst at technology research at IDC.

The IDC notes that the broad market leadership Android occurred for a variety of designs and flavors that the platform is offered on the shelves, which made its sales jump 145% compared to 2011. The agency says the biggest sellers of little robots were the Koreans from Samsung, which accounted for 45.4% of sales of the devices with the operating system.

Despite being behind in the overall proportions, the IDC notes that the iPhone had "its best quarter ever," shot up the good sales of the iPhone and the arrival of the 4S model to operators who had never marketed the omnipresent and omniscient apple smartphone . Sold 88% more than last year.

Symbian is already the end climão that party because of the arrival of Windows Phone 7, which is still struggling to gain a place in the sun. With 2.2% of the market, its sales grew 26.9% over 2011. Meanwhile the almost defunct Blackberry still has 9.7% of the pie, but its sales fell 29.7% compared to 2010.

Sony launches new Xperia in Brazil

The Xperia U is the least powerful of all, but have good specifications. With 3.5-inch screen and 800 x 480 pixel resolution, the device also comes with a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 5 megapixel camera and 8GB of internal storage. It goes on sale in June for U.S. $ 899.00.

SSD hides files with RFID card and delete data remotely

Last week, the Chinese manufacturer announced a RunCore SSD that can destroy all data on the disc with the touch of a button. Now she went further and revealed the Xapear, a drive that can erase data remotely and has a partition that can only be accessed by the user who has an RFID card with the secret code.

The SSD has two partitions: a free, available for anyone to plug the device into another computer and protected so important and secret files, which can be accessed through an RFID tag on the device. After approaching the card again, Xapear beeps and secure partition is invisible, as shown in the video below:

Another great advantage of Xapear is a SIM card slot. And no, it does not make calls (I know you're imagining a person talking to an SSD right now) - to connect a GSM network, the drive can send and receive text messages. Thus, if you forgot your drive somewhere or it is stolen, just send an SMS from any mobile to destroy all data on the disk. When the operation is finished, the SSD itself will send a confirmation message to the owner.

The Xapear will be available in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. Still no price, but it must be pretty expensive. And despite being called by the SSD manufacturer, the drive features USB 2.0 connectivity and fast read and write disappointing: 22 MB / 14 MB / s, respectively.

Google wins lawsuit against Oracle for breach of patent

After a week of discussions in the California court, the jury decided unanimously today that Google simply does not infringe any patent of Java. The process was undefined since 2010, when Oracle claimed that the owner of Android used without permission, parts of the Java source code in the operating system of the robot.

The trial was partially decided earlier this month when the court said that the staff of Mountain View has violated the copyright of Java, but could not determine whether the offense actually caused damage to Oracle. To defend itself, Google claimed that used only nine lines of Java around the Android - and these few lines had been removed from the platform.

Oracle originally sought $ 1 billion in damages, but after the previous trial, analysts said the company was unlikely to get more than $ 100 million. Last week, the owner of the Java signed an agreement that would accept to receive only $ 150,000 for each violation. And now it seems they will be empty-handed, with nothing, not a penny.

Google welcomed the decision in a statement: "The jury's decision that Android does not infringe patents of Oracle was a victory not only for Google, but for the entire Android ecosystem." It was not this time Oracle.

Google refuses to cooperate with national European information

If it depends on the search giant, the French organ that conducts research for the European Union concerning the activities of Google will not receive a response even on the modus operandi of search technology and data collection company made. Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, the president of the CNIL agency, sent a letter to Google in the U.S. which basically says that Google is difficult and does not answer a number of issues raised by the agency.

The letter to Google, very polite, in fact, reveals that "for a number of reasons, the evidence provided does not give accurate answers, clear and understandable to our questions." Isabelle wrote on Tuesday, May 22, and Larry Page, Google's current CEO, as a recipient. The executive says that "many responses provide examples without describing the exact procedures, processes or systems that Google actually operates."

Privacy Policy
From what we see, Google is not particularly inclined to cooperate with the investigations of the European body that aim to better understand how Google handles user information. As usual, questions hover about the millions of users search, Gmail, Google + social networking and other products of the company.

In April this year, Google responded to the CNIL questioning the legality of the French demand it of such an investigation on behalf of other EU countries where the law applies to the review procedures of Google. Google also asks what are the procedures of investigation and what is your ultimate goal.

In the message to the CEO, the team developed the CNIL comments for each of the responses previously provided by Google and deemed insufficient by the technicians. They ask for more information to the subjects covered.

For example, Google did not know how many users accessed the page with the new privacy policy, effective from March 1, from 24/5 and 1/3. "Given the extensive development and use of analysis tools," the CNIL actually asks if the Internet company does not have those numbers to pass to the organ. And believe me, this is just one of the absurdities contained in the document. You can query it here.

Of course Google has every right to refuse to provide details on the operation of its services until the CNIL and European authorities have evidence that research foundation and legal value for the citizens of the community. Still, it is curious that not responding to nothing when questions pop up on the privacy of users - registered or not.

Some people do not see a problem in an organization know as much about our lives. Not totally agree with the statement, but respect. The problem is for the silence in determining what Google - as well as other Internet companies - know about us. We live increasingly connected. The least we can know is how much we are exposed to computers and algorithms of private companies.

Mark Zuckerberg Gets Married

Guests thought that its was the graduation celebration of then-girlfriend and fiancee of Zuckerberg, who graduated in pediatrics for UCSF Medical School in the last 14 days but they where surprised to see that its a Wedding Ceremony. Mark Zuckerberg announced about his marriage on Facebook.

There are now over 600,000 "tanned" in the status of marriage posted on Facebook. Zuckerberg's sister, Arielle, posted on his wall: "How boring! Now I'm the only family I still single."

Windows 8 will tell parents what their children do on the PC

Over the years Microsoft has been making Windows more secure and this is well demonstrated in Windows 8. This version extends the adoption of ASLR and Windows Defender is already built, as well as the SmartScreen Filter in Internet Explorer. Now a new security feature was shown on the official blog of creating Windows 8 and it should not please the young children who have computers with the system.

This is the Family Safety. It is an option that turns weekly reports for a particular account in Windows 8, if it is marked as an account that is used by a child. When connected, this feature automatically generates weekly reports containing more sites that were accessed, programs that were more open and even searches conducted, and sends them to the email administrator's computer.

Also there is the option to limit the amount of hours that account can be online, besides having a tool filters adult websites. The Windows 8 Preview Release, scheduled to be released in the first week of June, will come with this tool installed but the demo video below should give an idea of how it should work.

Personally, I think a very good idea of Microsoft to help parents by offering this option built into the monitoring system. Although we also find that there is a role of the operating system to do that kind of control but their own parents or guardians, regardless of the computer.

But I can only remember a similar situation in the past, when the antivirus vendors were not too happy with the creation of the Microsoft Security Essentials. Now I imagine that companies that create filter monitoring for children should also join the group of malcontents.

Pakistan and Thailand buys Laptops and tablet PCs for students

Pakistani government announced it would provide 125,000 computers with Ubuntu installed for students, the Thai government has ordered 1 million tablets with Android for students in the country.

In the case of Pakistan, 125,000 laptops with Ubuntu installed will be given to students in high school and university. Umar Saif, representing the Council of Information Technology Punjab, wrote about the decision to use a solution based on free software in this project:

Support open source software on this scale in a country with a stark use of pirated software and owner, is a courageous and commendable initiative. Thanks to its flexibility, zero-cost and wide academic support, open source software is the de facto standard for college and university students around the world.

All very nice, but a criticism of the Pakistani project is that it favors older students, while younger people - who do not have any purchasing power and could benefit more from a computer - just getting out.

Well unlike the Thai government, which plans to invest nearly $ 70 million to buy 1 million Android tablet for students between 6 and 8 years. The project will take place in two stages with the first shipment of equipment coming in 90 days.

Reportedly, the tablet chosen by the Thai government is a Scopd SP0712, a tablet that by the tune of U.S. $ 81, has a hardware ... honest: 7 inch, single-core processor 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. All this running Ice Cream Sandwich.

Although the specifications of the notebook Pakistan have not been passed, one can imagine that is also modest hardware, but able to run the necessary programs for students.

Company has more than 400 devices just to test Android applications

Fragmentation is one of the biggest criticisms leveled at Android. On the one hand this feature popularizes the system and allows users to choose among many smartphones and tablets, on the other hand it hinders developers and creates problems of incompatibility with existing applications. The proof is a photo of Animoca, a Hong Kong company that has over 400 different devices just to test their applications.

The Animoca games developed specifically for Android and is a successful business - their applications have been downloaded more than 70 million times. Before launching new titles, however, it is necessary to ensure that they will work correctly on smartphones and tablet users. And how to do this? Thus, O:

In theory it is quite simple: just use standard hardware and assume that all devices with similar components also will run the applications. The problem is that there is no established standard for the hardware devices - basically any manufacturer uses the processor you want, the brand you want, since it can run Android. This does not happen in other systems - Windows Phone, Microsoft requires that the devices run specific series of Snapdragon processors to maintain compatibility. And iOS, the number of devices is very limited, so there are not many problems.

CEO Animoca, Yat Siu, reveals that about 600 different Android devices use their applications, but most of them are even longer for sale, which ends up making it more difficult tests. Fortunately they have investments from Intel and IDG-Accel, which allows the purchase of hundreds of smartphones, and (obviously) the hiring of employees that will test applications.

They are not the only, the co-founder of Pocket Gems, which launched its first exclusive game for Android this week, took a picture of the collection of smartphones and tablets of the company. Far more modest than the 400 Animoca devices, but still pretty scary:

In itself the TechCrunch post, Crincoli Carmen, who takes care of the cloud-related products at Microsoft, did not save words in a comment to defend the hard work that the Redmond company does to keep Windows running in numerous combinations of hardware of PCs:

That's why I tell people that we (Microsoft) are not praised enough for our work Windows compatibility. Can you imagine how it would develop software for PCs is the manufacturer of your operating system could not provide a set of APIs and behaviors that allow you to write your code once and it worked everywhere? There are literally millions of unique configurations and you need to make their software work on all of them. There are occasional problems even with Windows, of course, but this comment is just to explain why Windows is such a large project. All this work is done to avoid this problem.

A ton of Android smartphones and tablets released each month also contributed to the lack of updates, the stagnation of technologies used in various applications and other problems that have been highly discussed on other occasions. Eric Schmidt calls this differentiation.

Nokia launches new mobile input

After spending the last year busy with the development of smartphones with Windows Phone the Finnish Nokia decided to go back to basics and showed on Tuesday (15) a new line of low-end handsets. Given the names of 110, 111, 112 and 113, the devices do not have touch screens or browsers fancy, but should give a cheer in sales of the entry segment, low in the company in recent times.

All units have a 1.8 inch screen with resolution of 128 pixels by 160 pixels, supporting up to 32 GB microSD external storage, have VGA camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, battery supports 10 hours of talk time or up to one month standby and run the Nokia Series 40 operating system.

The devices can access Twitter, Facebook and according to U.S. operators will give consumers the right of downloading 40 games from EA Games for free for your devices up to 60 days after purchase. Models 110 and 112 are compatible with two chips, while the 111 and 113 support only a single SIM card.

Although most of the headlines in recent years are designed to smart appliances, the most dumbphone are still in the global mobile devices and a good source of profits.

The new input devices from Nokia are expected to be sold already this summer for between 35 and 38 euros.

Lenovo launches X1 Carbon first ThinkPad ultrabook

One of the oldest dynasties in the world of technology, the ThinkPad family of notebooks enterprise was born in 1992 at the hands of IBM since 2005 it is under the supervision of the Chinese Lenovo.  ThinkPad X1 Carbon, it comes with Intel Ivy Bridge, which will be the hallmark of other products in the category.

Aimed at executives, the model has 14-inch screen with a curious resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, Mini Display Port, card reader and fingerprint reader, among other treats.

But his high profile, who would say, is visual. The X1 Carbon continues the same style boxy and black of his predecessors and still have the classic (and useless) installed red trackball in the middle of the keyboard. But has a new backlit keyboard and a spacious trackpad with her MacBook, which gives a modern look to the whole set (which was modern 20 years ago, it was tacky 10 years ago and today is modern again).

As the name itself should report to the smarter, the new laptop uses carbon fiber for its chassis, magnesium alloy instead of the other models in the line. This allows the computer has only 1.36 kg, and distributed in its silhouette with 18 mm in the thickest portion. Speaking to The Verge site, a representative said that Lenovo can not say exactly what processor X1 Carbon team, "Ivy Brigge certain CPUs are still under embargo," he explains, implying that the computer uses a chip that still has not been officially presented.

According to the manufacturer, this is the "Ultrabook lightest 14-inch market," which after all should not mean much. The price of the novelty has not yet been revealed and should hit stores in July.

Microsoft will charge $ 99 to provide Windows without bloatwares manufacturers

The scene is quite common: whenever you buy a new computer and start Windows for the first time there are lot of useless softwares preinstalled by the manufacturer. These programs range from minimally useful applications, such as an Office Starter until antivirus licenses for 60 days or media players that only serve to overload the system startup. And how to remove them?

The most obvious solution is to uninstall the programs one by one, but it gives so much business applications end up there himself. Another option, which I prefer, is to use an unmodified Windows Media and install the system using the original serial label located inside the cabinet of the machine. The hard part is finding a reliable DVD (if the manufacturer has not sent a clean installation media) and make a user without much technical knowledge to format the HD.

Fortunately, Microsoft is offering a service in the United States to install a copy of Windows without bloatwares. The bad part: you need to go to a Microsoft Store and pay $ 99. Also, if you do not say anything, by default technicians install Office Starter Redmond, antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials, the Zune player and the Windows Live Essentials package.

It seems kind of expensive, but at least the user can request the installation of third party applications and earn ninety days of telephone support, an advantage that does not exist in OEM licenses - in this case, all support is performed by the machine manufacturer, which generally do not those things are there. For the novice user should be helpful.

Google gets smarter with the Knowledge Graph

Google announced a new feature in the search engine that saves users  time. Called the Knowledge Graph, the feature provides information about the search term directly in the page of search results, such as demographics of the cities, dates of birth or names of painters of the children of a scientist.

Today works like this: if you are interested in knowing what are the most important scientific discoveries of Marie Curie, research scientist in the name of Google and immediately click on the link to access Wikipedia. With the novelty of running the algorithm will examine what you have searched and not only displays the traditional organic results, but also useful data in the right sidebar. thus:

You go to Wikipedia less often.
In the example, Google said in which Marie Curie institutions studied, date of birth and even the names of the children, and to suggest related personalities such as Albert Einstein and Louis Pasteur, the guy who helped to remove the head of the people who life could be created from dirty socks or some other lifeless object.

The seeker now also provides direct answers to a question asked by you, leaving Google more like a life of Wolfram Alpha - the graphs of functions it already does for some time. Google Operating System exemplified some terms that return quick results: distance from Earth to the Moon, members of the Queen, the old Mark Twain and the Star Wars movies, in the order they were released.

Knowledge Graph Data can also be accessed through the interface and mobile applications from Android and iOS 2.2 + 4.0 +. The feature is only gradually being distributed to users in the U.S. and comes shortly after Microsoft announced similar changes in the engine and Bing.

Pirate Bay goes down after attack, but vows to return stronger than ever

The torrent site used by everyone, Pirate Bay is inaccessible from the evening of Tuesday for all Internet users around the planet. Although some countries have actively blocked the area giving access to the site, this list did not increase yesterday, including the rest of the nations: The Pirate Bay is only inaccessible due to a DDoS attack against the site.

The warning of the attack was published on the Facebook group, where they not only show your sense of humor when referencing the meme "taking an arrow to the knee" as well as guarantees: The Pirate Bay vontando is stronger than ever . This warning that they return, however, was published at least two hours.

Who is behind the attack? No one knows. But the group itself has said he has his suspicions. And the hacker collective Anonymous have ensured that they are not part of the problem. On the possible confusion with the two groups, they said only that "We can not agree with Anonymous at all, but both want the internet to be open and free."

This is not the first time that The Pirate Bay goes down due to an attack, but may be the greatest period in which he was unavailable until today. For those who need to access the site, this list of proxies issued by them in Facebook should resolve.

Baidu shows smartphone with 100 GB of storage in the cloud

If Google has the Android, it is now the turn of the "Chinese Google" to have their own phone. The Baidu Chinese search engine market leader in country, showed earlier this week Changhong H5018, simple smartphone designed for success in the country.

At first glance, the weapons that the player has to face the Androids and other smartphones generic entry that exist in  yard are modest. The H5018 Changhong has under its hood of a processor MTK6573 modest 650 MHz clock, has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, GSM and WCDMA (yes, two), FM radio and 3.5-inch display with 480 x 320 pixels. All decorated with a slim body that resembles the Nokia N9 and that can come in various color options.

If the specifications do not help in trying to put the H5018 in the hall of fame phones unforgettable, your software tries a little more. The machine dispenses the Android version to run a "highly modified" the little robot's operating system, called Baidu Cloud OS. The biggest advantage of the program are the 100 GB of cloud storage for all customers, without payment of additional fees or something.

By comparison, the figure is 50 times greater than the basic plan of Dropbox, 20 times larger than the Google Drive and iCloud, four times larger than Microsoft Skydrive and two times higher than the big guy Box.net. And rumors raised by The Verge site indicate that "the future" may be a version that will have no less than 300 GB available to its users happy.

In China, the model is selling for 899 yuan.

Test applications without fear in your Windows

With installing and uninstalling applications in Windows all the time, the operating system tends to be slow and full of useless files. In addition, sites that exploit flaws in browsers and plugins can cause a great damage to the machine. How to avoid this kind of problem?

The Sandboxie uses a technique very interesting: you choose the applications that run in isolation in the system and all the registry changes, files or settings are in a reserved area, called the sandbox. Thus, it is easy to reverse the changes or delete the software with one click. You could even use a virtual machine, but the performance loss and the requirement of a large amount of RAM just making the process through to a thankless task as routine.

The technique is the same as Google Chrome, where sites and plugins run in separate processes, preventing the theory that an unstable plugin crash all tabs (Flash, I'm looking at you). Best of all is that Sandboxie is free for personal use, with a lifetime license for 29 euros that can be used on as many computers you have.

Using the program is quite simple: after you download and install Sandboxie, click the right mouse button on a shortcut, executable or installer and go to the option "Run in a box." More than 250 billion spam messages circulating on the internet per day

Everyone who accesses the internet has already received unsolicited emails.  advertisements for shops that you never even heard of for the promotion of products, spam is sent on a large scale and cause huge losses for companies. At least that's what it says a recent survey by security firm BitDefender.

According to the report, the number of spam circulating on the Internet every day is daunting: there are 264 billion unsolicited emails per day. This means that until you get to this part of the text, at least about 10 million emails were received by people all over the world.

For two weeks, BitDefender analyzed a sample of 2 million spams - the total number of messages sent every second. According to the company, 1.14% of emails contain attachments, usually with HTML pages, text files, Word and Windows executables. The PDF documents are also chosen by attackers - as these files are not usually blocked on corporate networks, it is easier to spread a malware exploiting several security flaws in Adobe Reader outdated one.

Besides the inconvenience, these messages also cause damage. Considering that each worker spends two minutes a day reading deleted or unsolicited messages at the end of the year the company would have paid 21 hours of unproductive work for each employee. Furthermore, 78% of problems with data loss in business is generated by people trying to open the pictures from the party in *. Exe. The damage is greater because not only filters spam and phishing emails leading provider of saving part of this thankless task.

Samsung offers $4 million to create applications for Galaxy Tab and Note

Samsung seems to be trying to strengthen its own ecosystem. The Galaxy S III was released with several changes in the interface of the Android platform and feature firsts, as assistant with voice recognition and quick transfer of files. Note The Galaxy also has applications fully adapted for the stylus. And now the South Korean manufacturer decided to start a contest to encourage developers.

The programmers who take the 60 most downloaded applications for Galaxy Galaxy Tab and Note will be rewarded with prizes ranging from $ 30,000 to $ 200,000, totaling $ 4.08 million. Samsung also will award the top 20 applications that utilize the stylus Pen S Note the Galaxy, but the software must necessarily be in English and will be judged by a panel according to the creativity and originality of ideas - and not by number of downloads.

Anyone can join the Samsung Smart App Challenge, provided they do not live in a restricted country (Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan and Myanmar) and submit their applications until September 30. The coolest thing is that if you're one of the chosen, the manufacturer says it will unveil its invention of the press releases, social networks and even TV ads. The result comes out on October 31.

Apparently Android smartphones and tablets from Samsung will be launched with increasingly personalized systems like Amazon makes the Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble makes the Nook Tablet - the more advanced users know that it is an Android, but the software was so altered that it is unrecognizable. At the launch event of the Galaxy S III, were few direct references to the Google system.

These changes contribute to the manufacturers of gadgets profit from sales of applications, music, movies and other content while allowing the reduction of prices of our toys, leaving only the Galaxy X and a future Google Android tablet pure. But is that even if the users want?

Oracle wins lawsuit against Google for copyright infringement

Oracle won the process that moved against Google on behalf of the unauthorized use of Java in Android development. I mean, more or less won, because Google also won. But if you're a pessimist, the two lost, everything depends on a point of view.

The court responsible for judging the lawsuit filed by Oracle in 2010 for breach of copyright in Android released a partial verdict on Monday, in which Google says yes, infringed the copyright of the Java API to create your operating system for mobile devices. But that does not mean that the web giant is guilty of exactly the case, since the jury could not determine whether the use of Google fits in Fair Use, or that violated the copyright of the Java documentation.

Fair Use is a concept in U.S. law that allows the use of copyrighted material under certain circumstances. In case of violation of Java, one of Google's arguments that were used only nine lines of code in Oracle's all the creation of Android, and they've been removed from the platform.

According to AllThingsD site, Oracle during the trial "failed to prove that damage has occurred with the offense", while Google knew it had to license Java for compatibility with Oracle platform.

Thus, Oracle leaves the trial with a victory in hand, but certainly have to settle for a compensation well below the $ 1 billion applications initially. Analysts say the company will hardly more than "modest" $ 100 million.

Gmail is further integrated with Google+

Today Google announced what it says is "a better experience of notifications by e-mail Google +". In its official blog, it shows what it mean: from now Google+ will have  a custom interface for those who opt to receive notifications in their inboxes. Through it you can answer posts directly in Gmail without having to even open Google +.

The new interface also makes responses in Gmail can mark posts with +1 and view comments on posts in real time, which leaves Gmail "completely interactive," says Google. You can see below how your account should be activated when you have this functionality.

Moreover, those who use mobile applications to access the e-mail (be it a Gmail account or not) can answer these messages they will be automatically published as answers too. But this response only works for clients using standard IMAP or POP, which is the second Google Android 2.5 (hi?) And iOS 5 (or later) and BlackBerry. For some reason Windows Phone is not in play.

It's nice to see Google increasingly working to integrate its 'social layer' in the other services of the company, but I think he is getting a fever of integration.

More than 58,000 Twitter accounts passwords leaks on the Internet

Anonymous hackers announced today five lists containing passwords of Twitter users. we found that many of the accounts are just robots created profiles to spread spam and malware in service, but also affected several Brazilian accounts with email providers such as UOL, iG and Terra. If you are noticing something wrong in your account, your password may have been leaked.

The lists were made available initially in the Pastebin and an alternative version without the passwords of users, is available at this link. Give a Ctrl + F and search for your email address or user name. The Pastebin is known for hosting controversial text files such as passwords and leaked confidential documents obtained through raids on servers.

It is not known exactly how the passwords were stopping on the Internet, but most likely a false application has captured the combinations. Everyone already knows, but it never hurts to remember: it's not a good idea to enter the Twitter username and password on sites that promise to increase followers, or use combinations such as "123456", "101010" or words in the dictionary.

At the time of publication of this notice, each list had an average of 15,000 views. So, if your account is listed, probably someone is checking his messages direct super-secret, and compromising valuable right now - that is, change your password immediately.

Until the case is resolved, the accounts that were possibly affected had their passwords reset. For those who are worried that your account has been compromised, we suggest changing your password and follow the instructions in the Help Center.

It is important to remember that, until now, we find that the list contains Pastebin found in more than 20 000 duplicates, many accounts of spammers who have been suspended and many credentials that are not linked to one another (ie, the name and password user does not provide).

LG will focus on Android and has no plans for new Windows Phones

The boat began to fall for the Microsoft. Confirming what the agency told Reuters on the operators lack of interest in Windows Phone, LG decided to "abandon" the platform. In a press release, LG said that the total number of handsets sold with Windows Phone is not significant. This is not worth continuing to invest in the platform. On that note, LG says it plans to concentrate on Android smartphones now able to attract new consumers.

The hardware requirements for smartphones that run Windows Phone complicate sales. With 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and at least 8 GB in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, the platform did not become a viable option for inputs. Only recently the company lowered the requirements for 256 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory.

Anyway, the participation of LG is not very large in the system enjanelado: are only 2 handsets, all the first generation. In the U.S., Nokia and HTC are in front of the small market share of Windows Phone. The decision applies only to the line of smartphones.

It's a shame. The Windows Phone is a platform with good promises, and in some respects better than iOS and even Android. Even the Tecnoblog has a special opening windows where our editors Thássius Veloso, Thiago Mobilon report their experiences with the platform. Have checked?

Motorola may prevent sales of Windows 7 and Apple products in Germany

Motorola has won a court battle against Microsoft in Germany. The software giant is accused of unauthorized use of the technologies owned by Motorola, infringing patents related to video codec H.264. In the process, the distribution of Windows 7, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Xbox 360 may be prohibited in the country.

H.264 is a video format widely used on the Internet, especially YouTube. Microsoft has joined a lawsuit against Motorola and Google in the European Commission in February, complaining of the very restrictive terms imposed by the two companies. According to the Redmond company, the pair would "kill the video on the web."

Despite the injunction in favor of Motorola have been granted in Germany, a U.S. court is also considering a similar process, preventing the manufacturer to move the case. The process is expected to be decided next week, but it is very likely that the Microsoft appeal against the decision quickly so as not to suffer large losses.

According to a spokesman for Microsoft, the company "is confident that Motorola will keep its promise to allow their patents are available through fair and reasonable terms for the benefit of consumers who enjoy videos on the web." For now, sales will continue normally.

Motorola also is suing Apple in Germany for infringing a patent related to the transmission of data via GPRS. Currently, Motorola is the only manufacturer of Android to be involved in fights with Microsoft. Other manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and LG, have acquired the necessary licenses proprietary technologies for use in smartphones.

Nintendo in red can be great for the future of the Big N

My relationship with Nintendo has been strange in recent years. Although the Big N (who invented that nickname, anyway?) Has marked my childhood and I was conditioned to see the SNES, forever, as the best console produced by the human race, my critical stance in relation to certain decisions of the company gave me appearance of the Nintendo hater.

Maybe that's why so many friends on Twitter have gone to give me the "good news" for the first time in over thirty years, Nintendo has seen advertising injury.

And what damage: Nintendo has lost more than half a billion dollars. It is a considerable loss, not to hegemony was maintained by the company in recent years (remember when the DS and Wii were essentially licenses to print money?) The situation was more complicated.

It is easy to see the downfall of Nintendo. The Wii has not aged well (and no longer has a monopoly in the business of motion capture), and I think the artifice of the DS touch screen that has lost a bit almost magical appeal when a good portion of the world's population now has technology touch screen in his pants pocket.

Furthermore, the list entries for both consoles have stunted more. While PS3 and Xbox 360 are given titles like Gears of War 3, Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3, the Wii has titles like this one:

Say there with sincerity, you even know this game came out last year? You had at least heard of the Conduit 1 (which is called The Conduit, actually)? Do you have a friend who said something like "can not wait to get home and play online with 2 Conduit staff college"?

At this stage of the game, virtually anyone who ever wanted a Wii or a DS already has. This, coupled with a collection of games very poor compared to what competitors offer, the Wii has almost completely irrelevant on the eve of his sixth birthday (while there are many reasons to get the other consoles).

And this was not the only problem. Nintendo started the new generation of laptops with the left foot and was forced to cut the price of 3DS hastily. The maneuver prevented apocalyptic prophecy for my new laptop, but it meant that Nintendo essentially sell the 3DS below cost price.

It is an unprecedented turnaround, since Nintendo has a history of complete domination in the notebook. See the company losing money on a successor to the DS is hard to believe. 3DS sell below cost price was a risky strategy, but is the cost of expanding the installed base of 3DS, a move that certainly is worth in the future.

But what future? Firstly, Nintendo needs to attract more partners. This business of selling the console only be based on Mario, Zelda and Metroid is no longer going so well (at least not dying in a console like the Wii). No exclusive franchise from Nintendo would at this late date, what makes Modern Warfare 3 for Xbox 360 or PS3, for example. The Wii is a console which is squeezed until only the bagasse left over, and this seems similar WiiU come the other to the point of care. Tell me honestly: is there anyone reading this column you are looking forward to the release of WiiU? I fear that there are many readers in this demographic.

But we must not forget that Nintendo was the one who saved all the industry of the islands after the legendary crash of 1983. If a company is able to reverse the defeat of this magnitude, according to the historical record I put my chips on Nintendo. I have a slight feeling that, as the defeat of the Nintendo GameCube took a new direction that has proven extremely successful (at least the first five years of life of the Wii), the decline in current platform will give the lesson needed for the same mistakes are not repeated.

Perhaps it will manifest itself as a robust online mode with WiiU or greater incentive to third parties, or the return of focus ... hardcore? In other words, everything that its competitors specialize?

Tell me if there would not be exciting to see the Big N back to the top of the podium in the race of the islands, as in past?

Google Docs gets new gallery of fonts and templates

The brand Google Docs almost disappeared after the arrival of the Drive, but the search giant still invests to improve service for collaborative editing of documents. In the official blog, the company announced the availability of 450 new sources, 60 new document templates, improved integration of images and other small updates.

The gallery shows all font styles available in Docs. To use sources beyond traditional Arial, Calibri, Droid Sans and Ubuntu, create a text document, access the font menu item and click the Add Fonts. In the window that opens, you can remove the least used types or add new ones, who would be distinguished background in the listing. Since there is a very nice look between 450 fonts, menus can sort them by popularity or display only the fonts with serifs.

Google improved the page templates and added new models in the service of documents. The changes, very welcome, promise to facilitate the creation of curricula, newsletters, recipes, photo albums and to help teachers assess their students by means of models with graphs and tables for notes. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but gives the expense.

Other features are also present small. Now you can add images stored in your account Drive or even take photos directly from your webcam, which can save some time on very specific occasions. The Docs even won improvements in accessibility, management and support for scripting languages strangers where you write from right to left.

Microsoft kills "Messenger" and several other brands

Confirming rumors that have circulated for some time, Microsoft announced on Wednesday (2/5) which will kill the Windows Live brand for all its products. The official announcement came in an official blog post in which Chris Jones, head of development of next generation OS explains the new format of the names of the company's services for the next time.

Names known as Windows Live ID, Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Mail will cease to exist and the services will meet for names (and most elegant) as Microsoft Account, Messaging and Mail, respectively.

All other services of the company also will change.

The computer giant says that changes are only in the names of services that maintain their functionality and features. Another new feature revealed by the post is that the newly released Windows SkyDrive will be built right into Windows 8, and simply use your user account to log in first W8 to get 7 GB of STORAGE network.

According to MS, 500 million people use some Windows Live service every month. The flagship of the family is Hotmail, "most e-mail service network", with 350 million users that store 105 petabytes of data. The Messenger, which has seen better days, is still the leader in instant messaging with 300 million active users.

Sony announces Ultrabooks Vaio T11 and T13

The fight of ultrabooks won more competitors on Wednesday when Sony announced its Vaio line T. The line models are the Vaio T11 and T13, which are great model names. Both have a design in mgr magnesium and aluminum, which has the potential to become any MacBook Air with a little envy.

In other specifications, the T13 comes with a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, hybrid storage with 320 GB hard drive and 32 GB SSD, 4 GB of RAM Video Card HD 3000 and Intel processor options Intel Core i3 or i5. Being smaller, hopefully more humble settings than those in T11 but Sony has not released a base model. The battery of them reaches up to 9 hours of battery life and all come with HDMI, and VGA card reader SD / MMC.

As duly noted by Wired, the the line ultrabooks Sony has a peculiar detail: the models are heavier and thicker than the Vaio Z, which is considered a notebook and do not fit in the proposed ultrabooks Intel for some reason. But the Vaio T fits exactly in the limit proposed by 18mm chip maker: both do not exceed 17.8 mm thick.

The price of ultrabooks not been announced and they are only confirmed for sale in Europe, which should arrive this month.

Nokia plans to launch line of tablets

There are now rumors about a possible tablet from Nokia. After the partnership with Microsoft in February 2011 and the emergence of the first version information for ARM processors Windows 8, it was expected that the manufacturer finally enter the market. And that should happen soon, according to former chairman Jorma Ollila.

In an interview with the Financial Times about his departure from the company, Jorma commented on Nokia's future plans and said that the manufacturer is eyeing the competitive tablet market, currently led by the iPad. They also plan to explore hybrid devices (like tablets with physical keyboard) and other formats.

We recently published a patent filed by Nokia in 2011, which showed a tablet format very similar to the current smartphone line Lumia. As there are not many operating systems for tablets and the company does not give the slightest hint of adopting Android, the more likely it is that the device works with Windows 8 RT. Only you can not go to sleep - other manufacturers like Dell and Samsung, have already confirmed their tablets with Windows will be available in stores by the end of the year.

With the late arrival of the manufacturer on the market for Windows Phone and the loss of the position of the leading producer of mobile phones to Samsung, many Finnish criticized for being too "slow" in the smartphone market. The former chairmain agreed, but new projects are expected to grow the company again. It's what we expect. And we want new appliances indestructible.

Third-generation iPad hits the market on May 11

When we least expect it, comes the TIM and reveals that the new iPad (that of the third generation, though Apple does not take that nickname) will be in stores from May 11. To boost sales during the festival of Mothers Day, according to the operator. However, not much anime because the TIM was limited to only say that until the given time. No word on pricing and plans in which the tablet will be offered.

TIM can expect to sell the product at retail price of traditional, fully unlocked to use other carriers MicroSIM. This is default behavior of Italian. Usually they announce a tablet for the price of resale, together with a plan extremely cheap thanks to generous discounts. If the client wishes, may terminate the plan at any time and continue to pay only the price of the device.

Read below the comments sent by the TIM.

"The TIM is the first carrier to launch the new iPad in Brazil. The third generation of tablet Apple already has a date to arrive: from May 11 will go on sale in major stores of the company, further increasing the portfolio of TIM for Mother's Day.

Information on prices and availability will be released shortly. "

I asked the representative of the TIM on when prices will adequately disclosed. According to him, is not official, but we'll probably have that information yet during the week.

Claro said he is negotiating with Apple to sell the iPad. In turn, Apple Brazil commented that: "Apple has made no announcement about the new iPhone in Brazil."

Make your Gmail attachments go straight to the Google Drive

The integration of Google services is very strong, but not always the search giant provides the tools you need most. In the case of Google Drive, for example, would be a very useful option that mattered mail attachments from Gmail Drive straight to Google, but such a tool (even unofficial way) did not exist ... until now.

But you can Make your Gmail attachments go straight to the Google Drive by following method.

To enable the transmission is very simple. Follow the step by step below.

1 - In your Gmail, create a new filter with the "has: attachment" in the search field. Have him check all messages that arrive tagged GoogleDrive.

2 - Make a copy of this spreadsheet to your Google Drive (the link now opens with the option of making a copy). This is where is all the code needed to make this trick work.

3 - Open the copy of the worksheet and select the "Gmail (Click Here)" and then "Initialize". This will make them open the windows for permission to access your Gmail account and Google Drive. It will only work if you authorize.

4 - Then select the "Run" menu "Gmail (Click Here)." From then on, every 5 minutes, the script will run (see update below), to capture the messages in the specified tag and automatically pull the files attached to messages from Google Drive. The attached files in the folder will be specifically Gmail, so you do not confuse it with other files.

If you want you can change the tag of your filter to some other string, as GDrive or something. But if you do, need to remember to also change the tag on the worksheet where the script will search for messages.

One more tip: we do not advise you to check all messages with the tag attached with Google Drive, apanas those that arrives from now. Otherwise all attachments will begin to appear in Gmail folder and if you have some attachments and heavy and have downloaded the sync application on your computer, it can take plenty of bandwidth. Outside the limits of 5 GB can also be achieved quickly in this way.

Samsung beats Nokia and becomes largest handset maker in the world

Finland's Nokia has lost the position of the largest handset maker in the world. Leading this important market for 14 years, the company saw the numbers of Korean rival Samsung soar after consumers have shown great interest in the various devices produced by the latter - in particular the Galaxy line.

According to Bloomberg financial news agency, Samsung has distributed 93.5 million units of mobile phones in the first quarter of this year, followed by Nokia with 82.7 million units. Yes, Nokia is at least ten million units behind the number one - a situation that has not happened since the iconic Nokia overtook Motorola, a company now owned by Google, in the distant year of 1998.

Notice that I use "distributed" in this writing. By "distributing", understand that the device manufacturer's inventory left and went to the store of resale partner or directly to the point of sale. From this it is more difficult to say how many units were sold.

Among the reasons that we can speculate for the new scenario in mobile devices, attention to the difficulty of maintaining a Nokia product line consistent with what the market wants. They are simple devices that meet public poor and emerging countries - the S40 platform is there, at 1.5 billion handsets for it.

However, Nokia has faced voracious competitors in the segment of smartphones, smartphones became the dream of the entrants into the middle class. The Windows Phone running Lumias suffer prejudice in the European market. The information was provided by Reuters news agency. In the United States, problems in software Lumia 900 shortly after its release meant that the family of products falling into disrepute. Currently, Nokia says that the problems were solved with a software update.

Samsung, in turn, invests heavily in the Android open system maintained by Google. Today has a series of products based on this platform, among which is the Galaxy SII (about to be replaced by a new model) and the Galaxy Nexus device designed in partnership with the search giant. The Galaxy Note the photo above is in the middle of the path between being a smartphone or tablet, due to its grand display (I came to the conclusion that it is more smartphone than the tablet review published by us).

Samsung has also partnered with Microsoft since the Omnia W is on the shelves as an affordable smartphone running Windows Phone. However, it showed me a news conference with reporters at the Samsung event for Latin America in Lima, Peru, the WinPhone is no background in the interests of the company.

we try to contact Samsung Brazil since last week, but the company did not answer our email asking you to comment on the specific results for the domestic market.
