SSD hides files with RFID card and delete data remotely

Last week, the Chinese manufacturer announced a RunCore SSD that can destroy all data on the disc with the touch of a button. Now she went further and revealed the Xapear, a drive that can erase data remotely and has a partition that can only be accessed by the user who has an RFID card with the secret code.

The SSD has two partitions: a free, available for anyone to plug the device into another computer and protected so important and secret files, which can be accessed through an RFID tag on the device. After approaching the card again, Xapear beeps and secure partition is invisible, as shown in the video below:

Another great advantage of Xapear is a SIM card slot. And no, it does not make calls (I know you're imagining a person talking to an SSD right now) - to connect a GSM network, the drive can send and receive text messages. Thus, if you forgot your drive somewhere or it is stolen, just send an SMS from any mobile to destroy all data on the disk. When the operation is finished, the SSD itself will send a confirmation message to the owner.

The Xapear will be available in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. Still no price, but it must be pretty expensive. And despite being called by the SSD manufacturer, the drive features USB 2.0 connectivity and fast read and write disappointing: 22 MB / 14 MB / s, respectively.
