I had already reviewed that which are the Quick Look feature of Macs that I missed most while working on another operating system. It was introduced in Leopard and allows you to make quick viewing of files in the Finder without having to open other programs, just by pressing the Space key.
While supporting most of the files we work on day to day, some formats do not "come from the factory" in Quick Look. Hopefully we've got some plugins to solve this problem. To install these wonders, it's pretty easy.
When downloading files ending in. Qlgenerator, copy them to ~ / Library / Quicklook (where ~ is your user folder). If the Quicklook folder does not exist, just create it.
Now we follow with a list of some of these plugins that can be quite useful:
Folder List
Fast and easy: add support for a list of files in a folder. Download here (. Zip).
Zip Viewer
Fast and straightforward, as the first: only in the place folder it lists the files within zip files. Download here (. Zip).
FLV
The popular format for web video, which gained popularity with the success of Youtube and the ability to download videos of kittens and children laughing can be performed without opening any player. Download here (. Zip) requires the Perian installed.
Suspicious Package
You know those type files Installer Package to help you add applications that need advanced options when installing? With this plugin you can see the list of files that will be added to your system and even if the package will ask for your administrator password or prompts you to restart your Mac Download here (. Dmg).
QLColorCode
Programmers for programmers, this plugin adds to the color codes of files in various programming languages like C / C + +, PHP, JavaScript, XML, SQL etc.. Download here.
CSV
If you work in an office or a programmer, you have probably encountered the CSV format. Now you no longer need to open Excel or Numbers to view this file type-formatted tables. Download here.
MKV
Perhaps the HD video format popular in the world of torrents. This is a bit different from others because there is a plugin file to download. You just need to have Perian installed, the application must already be enough. However, there are some cases where even with the plugin installed, the. Mkv is not displayed in Quick Look. Try the following:
Go to the Applications folder and find QuickTime Player.app. Click on it by pressing the Control key and select Show Package Contents.
Open the Content folder that appears, find the Info.plist file and open it in TextEdit. Find the last two lines of the file:
Before them, add the following text:
Save the file and now open Terminal and type:
touch / Applications / QuickTime Player.app
Just testing:
That's it. If the format you are looking for is not in the list of QLplugins, nor in the QuickLook Plugins, a search on Google should solve old. Sometimes there is the plugin file itself, but you can find alternatives such as the MKV.
Little extra tip: To open the Quick Look straight into full screen mode, press Option + Space. If you select several files in the folder and press this combination, Quick Look also acts as a slideshow. Cool, huh?
