Know Lubuntu Software Center, the soft option of Ubuntu Center Programs

Lubuntu users (and other distros Ubuntu variants) had a problem when downloading and installing programs: the lack of a lead program manager, forcing them to use synaptic. But that is about to change, as some developers began to develop the Lubuntu Software Center, a lightweight version of the Central Program.

Though still a very early stage of development, the Lubuntu Software Center fills a gap in Lubuntu: the lack of a simple and friendly interface to install programs.

Synaptic is a great application for more advanced users, but not friendly. And for a distro that aims to be as light as possible, the standard Software Center Ubuntu is too heavy and would need to load several files of GNOME. Simply unthinkable.

Lubuntu The Software Center has no effect cute graphic, and even some options are missing (such as the classification system of programs, reviews and other resources), but the general idea is that it is just that: a simple and lightweight program. If you use Lubuntu 11.04 or 11.10, you can install the program with the following commands (in terminal)

sudo apt-add-repository ppa: lubuntu-desktop/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install Lubuntu-software-center

After that, just run the program in terminal (or ALT + F2 command) by typing "Lubuntu-software-center" (without the quotes). As always, remember that the program is still an early stage of development and should not be installed in production environments.
