4shared delete suspicious files and accounts
The shutdown of Megaupload promoted by the FBI last week brings up the discussion about the legality of sites that provide file sharing. Yesterday Tecnoblog FileSonic reported that along with other notable services of the type began to block the sharing feature - the user needs to login to download files. The 4Shared has not yet reached that point, but started cleaning the servers to avoid future problems.

In recent days the 4Shared started deleting files and user accounts. The company has not made any statement on the subject, but it is fair to say that following the playbook of political correctness erasing third-party content shared without permission.
In addition to deleting the files, the site is also in the process of closing the affiliate program that maintained, allowing local companies to sell premium services of 4Shared charging on the currency. In Brazil there is a list of nine companies authorized to sell on behalf of 4Shared, according to the page "Resellers" their site. Some are corporate and everything, as required by Brazilian law.
Brazil is among the countries that access the 4Shared. According to Gizmodo Brazil, access from the country accounted for 12.6% of total site traffic, a figure only beaten by Indonesia. Statistics page of 4Shared says that Brazil leads with 16.7 million hits followed by Indonesia with 7.7 million hits. However, the numbers appear to be updated.
I tried to contact the staff of 4Shared for comment. If the answer to come here can be sure that the article will be updated. In the meantime, I recommend that readers use to share files 4Shared seeking similar service. To this end I usually resort to CloudApp, which offers a good client for Mac and a good web service for those using Windows.

New Google privacy policy: spread your data across all services
Last Night Google announced the streamlining of its privacy policy that says it will now include 60 to 70 different documents related to the privacy of the company's services. This change, which only comes into effect on March 1, also says that from that day Google users will have their data shared among the company's services, willingly or not.

What that means, Google's own words, is that "you can provide a more personalized experience." In practice, it is only unifying data services not only to provide results that are more personal and more accurate but also more targeted ads and therefore can yield more in the end. See a brief explanation in the video below, in English.
Obviously Google is a company and as such have to aim at profit. These changes reflect a lot of this line of thought, profit more with the help of more personalized advertisements. And who does not want to use Google still has a little over a month to withdraw their data from company servers through tools DataLiberation.
When Google announced that the results would include shared links from Google in my circles, I did not like, but at least there exists the option to disable. Here, if you do not want to have your search history, watched videos or location (for users of Google Latitude on Android phones) linked to your Google account, the only option is to use no service to them. No opt-out.
If it's good or bad, will the preference of each. Gizmodo U.S. think Google is contrary to his mantra "Do not be evil", but I'm not as extreme as well. I think if I still have the option to disable the social search, do not care about Google's data raise the rest of what I seek in my account, provided that such data are well protected and provide an advantage.

Google Maps now displays emergency alerts
It was announced this week a Google initiative to bring more information about emergency situations. Through Google Maps (or Google Maps, as some prefer) the company will inform emergency alerts and security in areas shown on Maps. In special weather conditions that merit the attention of the Internet.

According to Google, institutions recognized for warnings of earthquakes, public safety and weather conditions provide relevant data to Google Maps. Among these institutions include the National Climate Centre of the United States and the USGS, National Center U.S. Geological Survey also.
Alert provided by Google Maps
When you search for a particular subject in Maps (for example, flooding in Indiana) will come face to face with a warning in the sidebar. When the user clicks it is a message explaining what has occurred or is projected to occur in the near future. Google also informs through small bar-style "progress bar", how severe the damage may be conferred by the emergency event.
Google offers the main Public Alerts powered by Google Maps, to centralize all active alerts at this time. Still have a lot related to the United States, but gradually the trend is that more research institutions and government entities such as the River Operations Center has partnered with Google to bring this information utility for users of Internet.
"We want to make people's access to critical emergency information during a crisis easier by using online tools they use every day. By incorporating data from public warning from sources of authority to the Google Maps we aim to simplify the search process for emergency information. "

App Inventor wins hands open source version of the MIT
Recently discontinued by Google, App Inventor soon have new home at MIT. And what's better: will be open source, allowing developers to contribute to the tool.
Created from a partnership between Google and MIT, App Inventor was a tool to create Android applications quickly and easily, just dragging components onto the layout area. Unfortunately, the App Inventor eventually discontinued by Google, leaving it with many beginning developers without having a starting point to begin developing for Android.
However, MIT came to the rescue and is already preparing a version of App Inventor, this time under an open source license. The strategy is not only to allow the code of App Inventor is updated by the community, but that other educational institutions and businesses to create their own versions of the system.
Importantly, this first moment App Inventor Edu MIT will not be open to developers. The official justification is that "we do not want to distract developers from MIT in its efforts to complete and launch large-scale public servant." All right then.

Nokia celebrates 1.5 billion mobile phones in the world
More than ten years after launching the S40 platform, Nokia celebrates in January selling the device number 1.5 billion. It happened in Brazil: in an event promoted by the company in partnership with Magazine Luiza, a consumer has received from the hands of Luis Almir Narcizo, president of Nokia, a unit of the Nokia 303 Asha.
The S40 operating system is adopted in the basic and intermediate devices of the brand. In its latest iteration, offers easy access to social networks like Orkut, Facebook and Twitter. The system also features the Nokia Browser, browser that compresses pages to use less data - similar to what Opera offers many years.
"We are proud to be a reference when people look for the best phone for them, is a product of entry or a complete smartphone. Much of this success is due to the volume of S40 devices sold here, with the best value for money "- Almir Luiz Narciso, president of Nokia.
Some people turn up your nose in the betting for Nokia S40. After attending the Nokia World and talk to the VP of mobile phones must say that my bias has decreased. The S40 is something to those who have failed have a way to access the internet and keep in touch with friends by phone. The idea is to popularize the simplest cell, as the market matures, selling smartphones for that audience already knows the products of Nokia.
The question is whether there's still time to wait this one billion people that the company plans to put Nokia hands before delivering the next financial results. This week the company reported operating loss of $ 1.4 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, down 31% on smartphones running MeeGo, Symbian and Windows Phone. Fall painful.

Google+ Doors are open for teens
In an interesting change of strategy, Google announced today that teenagers - before Google+ banned from entering because of age - may participate in the social network. The move came nearly seven months after the official launch in June last year, and was accompanied by some well-deserved security warnings about privacy and information sharing.

Justin Bieber may have a Google account + now.
From now who are 13 years or more and have a Google account can now create a Google Profile + if you want, just log in and fill in your data. Since the launch of Google + this has been one of the most criticized, something that did not make much sense if you remember that on orkut that the minimum age to create a profile is also 13.
Allied to this, Bredley Horowitz, Google's co-director of the +, also announced the launch of a security center (in English only for now) specifically for the younger audience, which is known more than he should share in any social network. The site will not only teach beginners how their parents or guardians to deal with information sharing on the network and how to use it so that no one take any risks.
