4shared delete suspicious files and accounts

The shutdown of Megaupload promoted by the FBI last week brings up the discussion about the legality of sites that provide file sharing. Yesterday  Tecnoblog FileSonic reported that along with other notable services of the type began to block the sharing feature - the user needs to login to download files. The 4Shared has not yet reached that point, but started cleaning the servers to avoid future problems.

In recent days the 4Shared started deleting files and user accounts. The company has not made any statement on the subject, but it is fair to say that following the playbook of political correctness erasing third-party content shared without permission.

In addition to deleting the files, the site is also in the process of closing the affiliate program that maintained, allowing local companies to sell premium services of 4Shared charging on the currency. In Brazil there is a list of nine companies authorized to sell on behalf of 4Shared, according to the page "Resellers" their site. Some are corporate and everything, as required by Brazilian law.

Brazil is among the countries that access the 4Shared. According to Gizmodo Brazil, access from the country accounted for 12.6% of total site traffic, a figure only beaten by Indonesia. Statistics page of 4Shared says that Brazil leads with 16.7 million hits followed by Indonesia with 7.7 million hits. However, the numbers appear to be updated.

I tried to contact the staff of 4Shared for comment. If the answer to come here can be sure that the article will be updated. In the meantime, I recommend that readers use to share files 4Shared seeking similar service. To this end I usually resort to CloudApp, which offers a good client for Mac and a good web service for those using Windows.
