Nokia launches augmented reality app for Symbian ^ 3

Long time I did not hear of initiatives of large companies actually increased. Were it not for Nokia, I think we would still a good time without things like that. Well, the Finnish company Nokia announced this week the Live View, a software that integrates with Ovi Maps to display points of interest on their screens as the user moves.

Augmented reality works as follows: the device camera - have to run Symbian ^ 3 - is thrown, as if to hit a normal photo. At the same time, the GPS starts up and checks which restaurants, cafes, markets, tourist spots (in short, the so-called points of interest) around. Then enter the Live View, which creates a layer above the video capture to inform the exact position of these points.

As the user moves the camera, the icons also move, tracking the position of the points of interest on the map (this information depends on the compass of the instrument). Thanks to integration with Ovi Maps (Nokia Maps, or as you prefer), the owner of the smartphone easily query information about a particular historical old bridge, for example. Or check the ratings for a restaurant that seems quite tasty.

Nokia has already made aware that the software is still in testing and may not end up being developed. For my part, I put into doubt whether there are points of interest Brazilian registered to work with augmented reality. You know what, these things take longer to reach this beautiful land by nature.

Are you interested? Testing the Nokia Live View was released on this page. Unfortunately, only works on the following devices with Symbian ^ 3: Nokia C7, E7 Nokia and Nokia N8. Also works on Nokia 01 and Nokia C6-X7-00, but it was not "fully tested". That is, at your own risk.
