As we already mentioned, the Linux Foundation is promoting various activities to celebrate 20 years of Linux, and asked one of these actions that users create and upload videos about their experiences with the operating system of the penguin. And to the surprise of all Microsoft's division in Germany decided to join in the fun and caused an imbalance in the Force to publish a video that discusses the relationship between the company and Linux!
The video, which can be seen above, is simple but very interesting. Begins by showing the whole feud between Microsoft and Linux, and recalling all the mistakes of the relationship, in a fun and respectful to both sides. In the end, the phrase "Microsoft VS. Linux "is replaced by a friendly" Microsoft And Linux ".
It may seem like just a good neighbor policy of Microsoft (after all, it also sends a cake to Mozilla Firefox team with each new version), but it is precisely this last stretch that has raised suspicion: Is the Microsoft pointing an interest in putting differences aside to the Free Software community and work more openly? Are we seeing a possible change in the behavior of the company? The whole fight over patents for Linux would be to end?
As always, it is too early to tell. But it is expected that this video is just the first step toward understanding between the Redmond giant and free community.
