Microsoft releases Office 365 to compete with Google Apps

Office is in the air 365, near direct competitor to Google Apps that Microsoft officially launched on Tuesday. From now on, the respective companies of Steve Ballmer and Larry Page will fight as a bigger productivity on the web, where Google was gaining a while. Microsoft, which is not silly or anything, want a piece of this.

To understand what is Office 365, first we need to remember the Office Web Apps. Introduced last year, relates to the web based version of the traditional Office applications, which depends on the PC installation. It has Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. All for free, with all the basic features of these applications in the installable version.

Only Microsoft has already rehearsed it a showdown with Google Apps. The Office 365 comes as a successor to BPOS, a kind of integration between all Web-based services company. It is through him that companies will have access to SharePoint Online, to name just one example.

"The 365 Office is available in a wide range of plans set up to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes, from the biggest to the smallest." This is what Microsoft says, explaining that the 365 will serve to many different companies.

One day before launch, Google had already turned his artillery to Office 365. In one post, the company said that Google Apps is "simple and affordable." He says that Google Apps is just $ 5 per month per user. Meanwhile, the Microsoft competitor would be expensive and complicated, since their simplest plan costs $ 6 per user per month, and are 11 plans available in total.

I have no doubt that MS will respond to this charge: we offer several plans for customers to choose the one with the best resources at the lowest price. True, but needed to do 11 (onze!) separate plans?

Just like Google Apps for business, Office 365 is focused on the corporate market. For us poor mortals, Office Web will remain free, accessible by Hotmail.

What about the 365 Office, arrives in Brazil, although there is an exact date for it. Through its press, Microsoft Office advises that Brazil will reach here only 365 in the second wave (or "wave") of product availability. Meanwhile, the company continues to recommend that BPOS.
