Google tool lets you export (some of) your account details

Since the announcement of the project Data Liberation Google has talked enough about the possibility of allowing its users to turn off the firm's services and carry your information. Yesterday the company finally took another step in that direction with the launch of Google Takeout. This tool allows users to export a Google account some of their data.

Anyone interested in exporting contact information, photos from Picasa, data from your Google Profile, Buzz and the newly launched Google Circles (part of Google +), can access the service and ask for the creation of an archive of all data . If you want to export only the data of a particular service, Google Takeout also shows what percentage of space it will take the file.

Google's plans are to expand this data collection tool for other services, but the company gave no estimate for when this should happen. Until then, users will need to continue using the site the Data Liberation Front, which offers tips on how to export your data from Google services, one by one.
