HP touchpad again to be produced in limited edition

After observing several shops being flooded by a wave of consumers interested in taking the tablet  discontinued Touchpad home for $ 99 - plus see some of the remaining units for sale on sites like Ebay for up to 300% premium - HP needed to do something.

The company released a statement on Tuesday afternoon advising interested parties that will produce a final edition of slates to serve those who have not found the device available in stores. According to industry sources, the company still had enough parts to build another 100 thousand units of the touchpad.

HP Touchpad: not so dead as it should
"Finally got some good news to tell about the availability of the touchpad. Although we announced the end of WebOS hardware manufacturing, we decided to produce one last batch of devices to meet unmet demand. We do not know exactly when or how these devices will arrive, nor can we guarantee that there will be sufficient for all devices. But we still spend a few weeks until they can be bought, "said Mark Budgell, director of marketing for HP, in a post on a company blog.

The first rumors about a possible return of the touchpad were being fed, those who would say, by Budgell in his own Twitter account, in which he claimed to be "negotiating" a possible return of the device.

It is unclear what the value of the latter devices, which by now should actually close the line within HP WebOS. But it is likely to continue to be sold for $ 99.00.
