Data from tracking firm comScore released on Wednesday said Google has become the first company to register the brand web 1 billion unique visitors in a single month.
The mark was achieved in the last month of May. The figures show that the giant web traffic grew 8.4% over the same period last year. Since Microsoft Sites - Bing included - were left with the silver medal with 905 million visitors (and 15% growth), while Facebook closes the podium in third place with 714 million hits (up 30%).
ComScore says make your measurements from data collected from two million Internet users around the world. In 2006, when it began offering its services, Google records only 496 visitors a month.
Despite their huge numbers, comScore says that Google was not the most accessed site in the United States. Who knew, with 180 million hits, the site got 8 million hits behind Yahoo, which the rest of the world has ever had healthier days.
