HP TouchPad stock cost $ 100 million

This week HP announced the end of all the gadgets that ran under the platform webOS. The company reported that low sales and high inventory of products cost about 5 cents per share. With over 2.07 billion of public roles, the total cost of that stock is more than U.S. $ 103 million.

The damage can be much more than material. The latest consumer confidence with HP may be impaired and, in view of the almost sudden death of the tablet. Not only the uncertainty of support, but also because they have paid for an equipment depreciated by more than 80% 400%.

The tablet cheapest in the world?
Just to give you an idea, the values of release of HP TouchPad were $ 499 for the 16GB model and $ 599 for 32 GB model. The same gadget is now valued at $ 99 for the 16GB model and $ 149 for the 32GB model.

The result of these latest actions and weighed much for HP's stock, which plummeted during the week. The fall was driven by both the announcement of the discontinuation of tablet and gadgets running webOS and by intention to sell its PC division of HP, is showing lower than expected sales.

The question remains: where HP will focus its efforts?

The answer is, according to Inside IT, cloud computing services. Moreover, it is likely that the area of mobile telephony is also sold, in view of the patents that the company gained after the purchase of Palm by HP.

In fact, HP has just declared Apple as champion. Not only in the tablet market, but also in the personal computer market. And I confess, since I bought my MacBook Pro and my iPad 2, never turned on my PC (and with that look that still left two monitors).
