Review: Samsung Galaxy Pro

In March 2011, Samsung has expanded its line of appliances proposed Galaxy, with four new models that relied on more modest technical specifications, but which have the same concept of the successful Samsung Galaxy S. One such model, the Samsung Galaxy Pro, was presented to readers TechTudo at the time of its release (click here to read), and now, we tested the device around, and comment on this review our views on the model, who recently its debut in the Brazilian market.

Design
The Samsung Galaxy Pro has square lines, and for many users, this design is an "ugly" and "antiquated", especially in a world of handsets with touch screen. But as his proposal is the event management and commitment to practical, physical QWERTY keyboard is very welcome. The type of the keys is a little harder than QWERTY devices from Nokia, but it is a matter of time for the user to adapt to it.

In fact, the model looks a lot like the Motorola MB502 (or Motorola Charm), launched last year, and other manufacturers like LG and Motorola "were inspired" in this format to launch its mobile solutions with a physical keyboard. In any case, the Galaxy Pro offers a great grip for typing papers, as well as being slim and lightweight to be shipped as comfortable in the pocket.

Features
The main feature of the Samsung Galaxy Pro is its physical QWERTY keyboard, which allows a more convenient and accurate typing the virtual keyboards. Despite the keystrokes and confused with a distribution on the keyboard is comfortable to use, even for those users with larger thumbs.

The account management capabilities and data synchronization work very well, and can be controlled simply by the user with a simple click on the available widgets on the screen. The four command buttons Android may hinder a little typing in the beginning, but it is a matter of time before you get used to the keyboard layout (which is a little different from other proposals, since the SHIFT key is at the lower end left).

Another negative point (but understandable) is its camera, which despite having auto focus, is only 3 megapixels. But we're talking about a corporate unit with air, and historically, this type of device has never had a dedicated camera for photos.

Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Pro has a 800 MHz processor and operating system Android 2.2. This combination ensures a satisfactory performance to the smartphone, with a fluid performance, with few crashes. But that has not stopped the machine rebooted a few times, because of its low amount of RAM (279 MB) and low amount of memory for program installation (181 MB).

It is strongly recommended that users configure the Galaxy Pro to install the applications directly on the memory card, which guarantees better performance and greater possibility of installing new applications. The process is relatively simple and considerably increases the possibilities of your device.

Other problems identified were the quality of their connections WiFi and GPS. The WiFi reception is weaker than the competing options, with a weak signal in places with two or three walls apart.
Have your GPS did not work fully in applications like Google Maps or Foursquare not the point of registering user location, leaving more functional as an option by triangulating the location of the mobile network antennas. The less experienced users will have trouble setting the GPS to work properly.

Cost-benefit
We understand that the Samsung Galaxy Pro will satisfy business users who want a more practical to send and receive e-mails and longer texts. It also caters to the niche of users who are more conservative, and feel more productive in social networks with a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Its price puts it in the line of intermediate devices, and a little more expensive than models dedicated to internet and multimedia. It is a model that the user must be aware of your taste in most mobile devices and may find that physical keyboards on smartphones is a thing of the past decade.
