Xoom 2 Media Edition with Android 3.2

The Xoom 2 Media Edition, a new tablet launched today by Motorola Mobility in Brazil, comes with Android 3.2. In the eyes of those who already know of the existence of Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, it may seem a tablet late afternoon and arrived in the country. But included in Motorola Xoom 2 ME some features that seem to compensate for the fact that he does not yet have the latest version of the system.

The first impression I had the Xoom 2 to hold it was the lightness. He is the first tablet I caught up with one hand and realize that if you hold for a while it will not cause much trouble. According to Motorola they arrived in the middle ground between the screen 10 and 7 inches, the standards of the manufacturers of tablet, after a market research and test prototypes. And it seems to me at least, they found the ideal size.

Unlike the original Xoom, which was created to deliver the pure experience of Android, the Xoom 2 ME comes with some customizations and Motorola appear to be of doubtful usefulness. But out of this list are things like MotoCast, the tablet that lets you access media files on a computer connected to the Internet. In this tablet there is also an infrared sensor on the tablet, which together with an integrated application called Dijit, transforming it into a universal remote control. It is. I did not understand well.

A difference of 2 and Xoom that justifies the "Media Edition" is the name of the concern about the sound quality. He has a virtual surround sound system adaptive. Basically there are three speakers in three corners of the tablet and switch function (two stereo speakers and a subwoofer) according to the orientation of the gadget, to always ensure a good quality sound.

Already the new tablet accessories are really quite varied, perhaps too much: two different types of keyboard (with a trackpad and another with a touchpad hidden), a dock, a microUSB adapter for standard USB port (to make use of USB sticks or other gadgets), an HDMI cable and a smart cover to cover that it serves as a support for the ME 2 and Xoom can make you fall forward if the surface is very flat.

The Xoom 2 arrives in Brazil for R $ 1,299.00, which is a little lower than what we see in the Brazilian market. It is manufactured in Brazil but I'm not sure yet if the low price is linked to the exemption law of the tablet. Still, it is now possible to make a contrast with the Apple tablet. The iPad 2 model with WiFi and 16 GB, for example, is still being sold for R $ 1,649.00, although it has a slightly bigger screen.

When asked if you want to bring the 3G version of Xoom second to Brazil, Motorola has just said that yes, go. But I do not want to risk a date, leaving a vague expectation "first quarter of next year" the same time, moreover, to be released tablet accessories. About Android 4.0 update, the company said it is still evaluating whether the update will happen or not.

For now these are my first impressions of the tablet. He seems to offer at a price that fairly compensates you have. You then have two options to see if it delivers in terms of multimedia and battery life: buy one in the next 20 days or wait for our full review due out shortly afterwards.
