Google continues as Firefox's default search

Even as a non-profit organization, the Mozilla Foundation to pay its employees, those people responsible for developing browsers, mail clients, and a bunch of other things  Fortunately the largest source of income, a deal with Google to keep search engine as the default in Firefox, it was renovated. The announcement of the renewal of the agreement was made late on Tuesday.

We do not have much information about what happened between the two organizations. Earlier this month we had reported that the agreement would be with the days since the expiration date had come and Mozilla nor Google had given much less news about what would happen from then on.

The new agreement, according to Mozilla, is beneficial for both companies. Valley for three additional years "at least" with the possibility of being extended there in 2014.

"Due to the agreement for several years, Google search will remain the default search provider for hundreds of millions of Firefox users around the world," said Gary Kovacs, CEO of Mozilla. A guy who should be smiling from ear to ear, celebrating the salary guaranteed for three years.

I wonder what that staff harassment of Mozilla must have suffered from other search engines and Internet companies interested in the special area in the navigation bar of Firefox - which came to the ninth version today, it is worth noting. Mainly from Microsoft, which sees Bing swimming, swimming (including new and very interesting) and die on the beach. Yahoo is out of the picture, as we all know.

In turn, Google can worry a little less to be the default search engine in Firefox. Recently Chrome has overtaken Firefox as number two in the world, according to data from StatCounter, losing even for Internet Explorer. Also according to StatCounter, Chrome is already the most used browser in Brazil.
