Google may announce mobile payment system this week with NFC

By creating the Nexus S, Google done partnership with the Samsung (the manufacturer of smartphone) that includes the device technology of Near-field communications (or near field communication, in free translation). It allows mobile phones to interact with electronic equipment and record payments. To take advantage of it, the support was included in the NFC Gingerbread, Android 2.3.

Now it seems that Google itself will demonstrate how to use it, according to sources at the site Bloomberg. They say that the Web giant will announce a mobile payment system that uses the NFC. Through the system, a user Nexus S could make payments and cash out discount coupons at select stores.

So far, few companies support NFC technology, and the vast majority of them are still testing the equipment and has no release date for a large scale. One is the credit card operator Visa, which is already testing the technology with MicroSD cards since last year.

Also according to the sources, the official announcement of the service will occur on Thursday and initially it will only be available in five U.S. cities. The service should be announced in partnership with U.S. telecom operator Sprint, which is one of the operators who sell the Nexus S in the USA.
