Apple wants to register the trademark Thunderbolt

Apple, not Intel, has filed for trademark registration Thunderbolt, the new technology presented earlier this year with the MacBook Pros and iMacs. Intel is credited as the creator of the product and Apple, as a collaborator. It is therefore a surprise that Apple is trying to trademark the name.

According to the Mac Observer, Apple claims that the Thunderbot began in Intel's labs with a simple concept: create a technology input and output data. The Electronista says Apple filed for the trademark in the United States and Canada. The Cupertino company already owns the name Thunderbolt in Jamaica.

One possibility is that Apple is registering the mark and the rest of the computer industry give another name for the technology. The Mac Observer speculates that Apple may be making sure that does not have problems with the name registered in Jamaica and has to pass the rights to Intel later.
There is also the chance of the company Steve Jobs wanting to trademark before someone else can.
