Rumor: iPhone may have five curved screen, say sources in Taiwan

Begins a new week, another round of rumors about the iPhone 5 - 4S or iPhone, depending on the preferred side of rumors. Again, an equipment supplier from Taiwan to the local site Digitimes said on Monday (23) that Apple will adopt a curved display screen for the next model of smartphone, something like the iPod nano before.

According to the page, the company would have purchased between 200 and 300 specialized machines for cutting glass for the production of the device after manufacturers have declared themselves reluctant to invest due to high cost of equipment.
"The glass cutting machines are being stored at the assembly plant will be linked and associated at the time that the yield rate of production of curved glass to achieve a satisfactory level," without naming Digitimes cites the exact source.

The site also says that there is a certain period to begin production of five iPhone because Apple is still making the prospect for suppliers to see if they are able to meet the demand for services, including those involved with the screen, glass cutters, lamination and touch sensors. Of course, it is natural that the company is even doing this query to leave everything on the spot before revealing to the world the unit, which can happen in September or earlier.

But the Digitimes forgot one thing: explain exactly how this will be curved screen. It would be like the old iPod Nano? It would be a step backwards to put a glass bubble-shaped, like the old TVs? Or is all very subtle about the user even noticing some curvature? We do not have the answers, until not even know if that's true. Moreover, at present, only Steve Jobs should know exactly what the new iPhone and all we can do is to speculate.
