Americans love Netflix.. It was the first company to rent DVDs that arrived at the customer through the postal and express delivery services (the famous motorcycle courier). Then the company started to distribute content via the Internet. Result: Netflix alone accounts for 30% of Internet traffic in the United States.
According to data collected by the company on using Sandvine Americans do downstream, Netflix grasps 30%, as I said. The HTTP protocol, which is synonymous with conventional web browsing, came in second with 18%.
While the YouTube videos are also watched much, it appears in third position with 11% of traffic. And piracy free and democratic exchange of files, symbolized by BitTorrent, given below, accounting for 10% of total downloads there.
And Apple's iTunes? Only 3% of downloads in the United States relate to the application store, music and movies from the legendary Steve Jobs. The Flash videos, for example, have increased participation: 5%.
The world's largest social network, Facebook accounts for 2%. But one should remember that the FB is practically based on text and photos without content heavier. Still, it deserves our attention for being one of the few sites that alone make the list published by Business Insider.
Scary to think that piracy is lost for the cool movies in general. I think if the survey was done in Brazil, things would not be so.
