In mid-February this year, Google showed some of the design ideas that it could implement in Chrome. One was a different layout of all current browsers, that hid the address bar. For the post's comments warning of possible breakthrough, I could see that the scheme is 8 or 80: you either really liked or hated the idea. So how about seeing how it was implemented and test it right now?
The latest update to Google Chrome 13, known as Canary Chrome and released earlier this week, has implemented this minimalist design that hides the address bar and also the toolbar. To show the bar again, just click the tab that it appears so small.
To test a more minimalist Chrome, download and install it through this link. Then open the browser, type about: flags in the address bar while it is still visible, look for the Compact Navigation and click enable. After that, just restart your browser and select the Hide the toolbar on the right click menu.
So, what do you think? It was kind of lost or like the new amount of visible pixels?
Update at 15:45 | How well the player Andre Reu indicated on Twitter, this version is also included the option of navigation sidebars. To activate it, simply choose Side Tabs within about: flags and restart the browser. That already seems a little too weird for me.
