Microsoft Releases Windows Live Mesh for Mac‎

Microsoft strengthens its presence in the world of the apple with the arrival of Live Mesh's official application for OS X. The service automatically synchronizes your computer's directory service with Microsoft's cloud storage. At first, there are 5 GB for free use. Anyone who wants to use the service must have a Windows Live account (Hotmail any will do).

Unlike what happens with some Microsoft software for Mac, the installation of Live Mesh is pretty easy. Below that old single step of dragging the file (or file package, to be precise) of the installation image to the Applications directory. Then just log in and set the files that will go through the synchronization.

It works similar to Dropbox and SugarSync, two services already familiar to readers of Tecnoblog - when you like something here, do not stop talking about her. Live Mesh sends copies of the previously chosen folder to the server MS. As the documents are changed, the files are returned, so the latest is always the server.

If the mesh is configured in more than one computer, it automatically replicates the files. Say you have created a report in the office, with Live Mesh, automatic sync would make this same report, in its latest version, was also sent to your home computer.

In short, this is another option for online backup. This time provided by Microsoft. While the company has many faults, we all know she has a powerful structure servers. The reverse of a few startups that get the same kind of offer that service. Therefore, there is the hint. Download here.

Update 20h37 21.jul | To avoid confusion, I speak of the new final version of the application, now named Mesh instead of Sync.
