Turning the table of broadband "unpopular"

From last week until now, I have followed with interest the impact of the news readers  that concern the popular broadband. As we know, the government wants to lower the access to high speed internet to the Brazilians. But as this is being proposed is the subject of much controversy.

Among the comments from readers, is almost unanimous opinion that the 300 MB monthly download limit is too low, even for a popular project. It is difficult to scrutinize how much this represents in terms of navigation, but calculating above, the quota allows you to download a 2 half hour films with average quality.

Franchises for PNBL announced so far
Tecnoblog readers are accustomed to avid consumption of various types of content, and I do not wonder that much of this staff work, study, read, obtain information, communicate and have fun almost exclusively on the web. Some even attest that spends 80 GB monthly traffic!

However, we are talking about web access to millions of Brazilians who have never had access to none today. It is not just information and relationships, but to exercise their citizenship. In addition to simple email, which is a window to the world, we're talking about public services and the claim of the most basic rights. Often in places where even the analogue media are denied!

For these people, and what will the National Broadband Plan (PNBL), the 300 MB is enough, after all, what matters here is a signature that does not weigh on the budget of Brazil's most humble, they calculate the costs of months at the tip of the pencil, coin currency. And not a billy-goat Internet to an audience hungry for entertainment, something that, after all, once brought down our already saturated infrastructure.

But it is precisely the issue price as the "nut twists his tail."

The proposed U.S. $ 35 per 300 MB of traffic to 1 Mbps speed is still expensive. Just a few bills to see that it differs little from the services already offered - of course, where there is structure and competition which will enable competitive prices. Besides being a value that weighs in the pockets of those most in need, has the question of the monthly commitment, which in itself amazes many people.

Maybe the solution is already before our eyes. We are not the country of the pre-paid? Consider the decline of fixed telephony in Brazil, compared to the exponential growth of mobile telephony. Even paying a lot more minutes for a call, people reject the monthly commitment. What they want is convenience: pay when they want and when they can.

In mobile broadband prepaid plans are interesting, to 33 cents a day, no computer required: R for $ 9.90 discounted in the credits, the citizen can browse 40 MB per month, 1 Mbps, on your mobile. Bursting share, just below the speed. Or, to casual Web surfers, you can pay only 50 cents if you want to use the Internet only in the next 24 hours.

Adapting the model of the mobile internet to broadband so people could promote digital inclusion for millions of Brazilians. Instead of a monthly subscription, the purchase of credits in minutes with the same formula of monthly traffic limit and speed. You can also give the option of buying credits, prices also popular for those who have no computer, operators install their own internet cafes - another phenomenon hick - who would work the same way as existing telephone agencies in small cities .

The PNBL would become a kind of "pay phone" broadband.

As I am not an engineer or specialist in infrastructure, I would like to hear your views on the subject of tecnoleitores. What do you propose to have a broadband project truly popular?
