In this tutorial we will create a business card with Adobe Illustrator. In the end, leave the card ready to be sent for printing.
Who does not have much familiarity with the software, we can already say that it is only a facilitator, and not vice versa. With practice and persistence, anyone who knows nothing about creating and editing graphics can finish the work that we propose in this tutorial. Just follow the steps below.
Step 1. With Adobe Illustrator open, click "File" and choose "New". In the setup screen of the new document, choose for the size in "Size", A4, and if you prefer, have set the color mode, in "Color" to CMYK, which is the default printers.
Step 2. We will do the business card format most used, 55X95mm, which is also easier to distribute in A4 size. Therefore, we must set the margins so that, when printed, there is enough room for the toe of the printer pull the paper without cutting art. Margins should be 1 cm on each side of the sheet.
First of all, the menu "View", select "Rules" to enable the rules, so that, on this basis, we can pull the guide lines. Pull tabs at the top, bottom and sides of the page, determining a 1 cm margin.
Step 3. In the Toolbox (Toolbox), click the "Rectangle Tool" (M). This opens an information box so we can determine the size of the shape. Place 55 mm in height and 95 mm wide, which, as I said, is the most used. Locate the left corner of the sheet.
Step 4. Now apply the text. This part can even be done separately. Then just move it into the rectangular shape, ie the card.
We can also break the text into a unique layer. Simply create the layer before selecting the "Type Tool" (T) in the toolbox and type your text. This can also be done also with pictures and stuff. It is a great option to be better organized.
Step 5. Put the information you need to find and distribute them to the card. If you have a logo, enter it by clicking "File" and then "Place." Just then select the image of your logo and click OK to open it in Illustrator.
Step 6. With the card set, we now distribute it by the leaf. First of all check if your card is outlined, and remove it if it does. This can impoverish their work once done. Just select it and choose "None" in the colors of the Toolbox.
Step 7. In the menu "Object" in "Transform", we can find "Move," where we can determine the horizontal or vertical displacement of the card. In case we have an A4 size of 210x297 mm with margins of 10 mm, then we have 190 mm of floor space to print the cards. Then place the 95 mm horizontal displacement and click "Copy." If you click OK, your card just to move. By clicking "Copy", a copy will be created.
Step 8. To distribute vertical just do the same process: select the two cards and click Object> Transform> Move, "but now put the value 55 mm in the vertical field. That done, click "Copy."
How Illustrator saves the information is not necessary to repeat the whole process again. Just click on "Object> Transform Again or press Ctrl + D. We will then have 10 cards on the page.
Step 9. Finally, we apply the cut marks of the cards. First of all, create a new layer layer, and then zoom in on the top left of the page. Select from the Toolbox "Line Segment Tool (\) and make a mark on the horizontal, being careful not to touch the cut mark at work. Allow a distance of about 3 mm and 1 pt thickness. Then use the Move again, as we did in steps 7 and 8, but remembering that now we have to move it vertically. We then use 55 mm.
Step 10. Marked the left side of page, select all tags and click Object> Group (Ctrl + G) to group them. Now, pressing the Alt key on the keyboard, we will copy the group to the right side with just the mouse. For the crop marks top and bottom, just follow the steps 8 and 9, but using 95 mm in the "Move".
