MacBook thief who was watched remotely is finally arrested

Mass screening of gadgets gained fame in recent years. They are for sending location information and images from the cameras to their owners if they lost or stolen. So now we see success stories of those who had their phone stolen or iPhone and Android could help the local police to recover it.

This week another case that came up, but involving a MacBook Pro instead of a smartphone.

Joshua Kaufman is a designer in the city of San Francisco, California. He had his laptop stolen on May 27. But before it was stolen, Joshua installed an application called Hidden that takes pictures using the camera, captures screenshots and sends information about the IP of a given computer it is installed. The program sent information to Joshua so that the thief has connected to the internet.

Ported this information, the designer went to the police, who has not done much at the time, he said. It was only after he created the tumblr This Guy Has My Macbook that your case has spread. Kaufman has published on the site of some photos taken at Hidden program that's supposed to show the thief's Macbook.

Shortly after publishing the site he was contacted back by one of the researchers responsible for the case. With more data raised by Kaufman, the police managed to arrest the thief on 31 and recover the computer. Joshua went to the police yesterday and took back his MacBook returned.

A happy ending to a story that began without much hope of succeeding.
