Review: BlackBerry Torch

The BlackBerry 9800 Torch, launched by Canada's Research In Motion is an attempt by the company to compete with the iPhone, Apple, and the Android OS from Google.

The cell phone compatible with 3G networks, provides a better connection with social networks like Twitter and Facebook. In addition to a revamped interface, with touch screen.

Already with the new BlackBerry OS 6 - which brings some much needed additions and welcome, including a better browser, better multimedia experience and improved interface - BlackBerry Torch, the first BlackBerry slider made so far, is already being considered the best player of the BlackBerry family.

Design

The Rim was successful in developing the BlackBerry Torch, once the device has touchscreen display - with light sensor and proximity detector - a 3.2-inch half-VGA resolution of 480x360 pixels. And physical QWERTY keyboard that slides under the bottom of the phone.

Measuring 111mm long (closed) with 62 mm wide and 14.6 mm thick and weighing 161.1 g, the Torch 9800 is the heavier-family, but it seems very solid. However, it is short and thin and has a smooth finish on the back. What makes the device enough to fit comfortably in a pants pocket.

The screen is clear and bright for reading and viewing Web pages, pictures and video. However, in comparison with many of the smartphones like the HTC Droid Incredible Captivate and Samsung, there's a noticeable difference in resolution, which makes the screen Torch drop a bit of quality.

Features

The phone has QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera with flash, support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus a browser itself, created by technology Webkit, the same used by Chrome.

The first smartphone is also equipped with BlackBerry OS 6, which allows the user to, among other things, group your contacts from different social networks in one area.
It has 8 GB of memory and compatibility with microSD card up to 32 GB.

Another innovation, also made possible by the BlackBerry OS 6, is in relation to the media player. The large screen of the smartphone, allows a more complete player, able to view the playlists and display the covers of albums in horizontal or vertical mode.

Already a tabbed browser, a great tool, allows the visitation of several pages at once. Works as favorites, you mark the sites they like best with custom names and icons and can access them from home.

Camera

The camera of 5 megapixels, the phone is another strong point. Comes with flash, auto focus and continuous image stabilization, and 11 modes of camera and video recording. Great resources to capture the spontaneity of each moment.

Battery

The phone has a battery of 5.8 hours of talk time, which allows the user to speak freely. However, if you are those who prefer to listen, then enjoy up to 30 hours of music and 6 hours of video playback.
