Sharp's Android Smartphone may be the new Sidekick

You know that type of smartphone that has a screen that can be slid to the side and turns into something that resembles a miniature computer, complete with a QWERTY physical keyboard? The most famous model in this format is the Sidekick, which is popular with many who like to type text. Now a picture that was leaked on the Internet shows that Sharp is working on a smartphone with the same physical characteristics, and can be launched onto the market very soon.

According to Unwired View website, this phone has a 3.2 inch screen with HVGA resolution (480 × 320 pixels), connectivity with GSM, 3G and WCDMA, Wi-Fi, GPS and a camera on the back - the resolution still was not revealed.

The new Sharp smartphone will run the Android operating system, probably in Froyo version (2.2), which would make this unit compatible with most applications available on Android Market.

The highlight of this device is that the full QWERTY keyboard that appears when you slide the screen sideways. In this model, however, not the screen is slightly raised for you to use your smartphone into a smooth surface and lying.

Sharp's smartphone should be released by U.S. operator AT & T, the same that had exclusive rights to sell the iPhone for several years in the United States.
