The map service by Google is about to get smart. The company behind Google Maps announced Wednesday that it will pass the state when a bus or train is late, and it will update the schedule for the output of the collective. Too bad, this early, the new feature works only in some U.S. cities and Europe.
Sasha Gontmakher, a Google software engineer based in Switzerland, confessed that always gets frustrated when planning a route using Google Maps and have to wait for the bus to arrive, which invariably delays (yes, it is people like us). Although Google has not put its own as buses and trains in the streets, which would definitely solve the problem, the company struck a deal with transport agencies to receive data in real time delays in public transportation.
Live Google Transit in Google Maps will display traditional, accessible at http://maps.google.com, and the smartphone version of the site, let alone the application for Android. The delay information will be available for those who use public transportation in San Francisco, Boston, Portland, San Diego, Madrid and Turin.
When selecting a bus or train station on the map, Google Maps will pull the most current data on delays. And if you're planning a trip to the service of Google maps, you can take these delays into account.
Recently it was found an Apple patent for a calendar application (iCal probably) that uses real-time data and transit time to keep the user informed. Some readers of TB proved disbelievers with respect to the patent. Well, there is Google taking another step toward that reality.
